Central Park is one of the most famous parks in the United States; it was America’s first urban public park. The park was first designed by Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmsted in the 19th-century. It was designed to be a beautiful recreation space in the buzzing and busy city of New York.

Central Park has a wide variety of activities to offer. Guided tours to show architecture, the woodlands, the story behind how the park came to be and more take place during the summertime. There is also various different courts, trails and pathways for any type of sport. You can also visit the lake and go fishing for catch-and-release fish. Skiing is available in the colder months of the year.

While in Central Park you can tour one of the five visitors centers. These have maps, information, gift shops, and restrooms inside of them. One of the centers, Belvedere Castle, is the location that New York City uses to calculate weather forecasts since 1919. Charles A. Dana Discovery Center is the newest visitor center to open to the public. This center hosts many of the park’s community programs.

Central Park is one of the most scenic places in New York City. From forests full of a variety of colorful trees and different wildlife, to the many different activities to parktake in, and the helpful and informative visitors centers and tours. You’ll never be bored at central park!
