Lindos, which is located on the Greek island of Rhodes, was originally founded in the 10th century BC and served as a major trading center for hundreds of years. Today, though, the town is most popular for the well-preserved remains of the ancient city, as well as for its pristine beaches. The most popular site in Lindos is the Acropolis, the highest part of the town from which tourists can see several of Greek buildings that are more than 2,000 years old. The Acropolis is a great place to view the greek harbors and some of the architecture. You can also visit the temple of Athena Linda. Inside the temple is a table used for offerings to the gods and part of a statue of Athena, you can the Hellenistic wall which surrounded the area, and many more different works of architecture while in Lindos. Lindos is a great place to visit if you enjoy exploring and looking at different types of architecture, because it’s area was part of not only greek History, but also Roman, Knights of St. John, and Byzantine people. It’s also used often in as inspiration in many pieces of artwork and well-photographed by it’s visitors.
