The American Museum of Natural History offers a wide variety of scientific and educational exhibits. This museum provides an interesting experience to people of all ages. Visitors to this building will be able to enjoy an array of activities. This attraction is located in New York City.

The American Museum of Natural History offers both temporary and permanent exhibits. This allows each visit to be a unique experience. With forty-six permanent exhibit halls as well as temporary exhibits, there is something to interest everyone. Some of the more popular exhibits are the fossil halls. This museum has nearly one million specimens of vertebrate fossils, which is the largest collection in the world. More than six hundred of the fossil specimens in this museum are on display to the public. Another popular permanent exhibit group found here is the Mammals Halls. These halls are separated in North American, Asian, and African mammal exhibits.

This museum also offers a few interesting shows to its visitors. IMAX shows are given every hour from ten thirty to four thirty. Some examples of recent IMAX shows are Sea Monsters and Roving Mars. There are also space shows which take place in the Hayden Planetarium. These shows are projected across a hemispheric dome that is sixty-seven feet wide.

This museum offers visitors the option to take a guided tour as well as being able to explore the five levels of the museum themselves. These take place every hour from ten fifteen to three fifteen. These tours begin on the second floor at the entrance to the Akeley Hall of African Mammals. Groups may also schedule their own tours based on the group’s interests. These tours may be booked online or over the phone.
There are also various dining options available inside the museum. On the first floor is the Café on One. This café offers food more suited to adult diners than children with items on the menu such as a cheese plate and a house-smoked salmon salad with potatoes and shaved fennel served on spinach. Also located on the first floor is the Starlight Café, which offers some salads and sandwiches as well as beverages and desserts. On the lower floor is the Museum Food Court which offers a variety of foods to suite all tastes. Some of the menu items found here are hot dogs, pizzas, wraps, smoothies, and salads. The Café on 4, located on the forth level, offers a menu with a focus on sandwiches and salads. There are also Dippin’ Dots ice cream carts located in various places throughout the museum.

This museum provides visitors an interesting educational experience and is a memorable destination. The American Museum of Natural History is open daily from ten in the morning to five forty-five in the evening. General admission prices are sixteen dollars for adults, nine dollars for children between two and twelve, and twelve dollars for seniors and students. Whether traveling with a group, family, or on your own, this museum is a great place to visit.
