What are US Airways Luggage Policies?

US Airways updated their luggage policy on July 9, 2008. If you are going to fly US Air you need to be aware of the new policy, and how this will affect your luggage and carry on baggage.

The first thing that you need to know is that US Airways charges a minimum of $25 for the first checked bag. For another bag you will be faced with a fee of $35. For bags that weigh more than 50 pounds an additional fee will be assessed.

In addition to overweight luggage, those that are larger than 62 inches (length + width + height) will be charged a fee of $175. Any bag that is larger than 80 inches must be sent via Sports Express. If you are unsure of how to ship a bag of this size, contact the airline in advance to make special arrangements.

Some passengers may be exempt from the above fees. They include Dividend Miles Preferred members, passengers traveling to and from Asia or Europe, Star Alliance Silver and Gold status members, and unaccompanied minors.

It is important to be aware of US Airways luggage policies before heading to the airport to catch your flight. By knowing this policy you may be able to save yourself a lot of money in excess fees.
