The Gardon or Gard river is located in Southern France, taking its name from the Gard department. Beginning in the Cevenes range of mountains, the Gardon ends in the Rhone river. The river is well known for the Pont du Gard, a Roman acueduct that crosses the river, as well as the Pont Saint-Nicolas, a historic bridge built in the 13th century. The Gorge du Gardon has become popular as a destination for kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, and hiking.
