Thanks to the Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act, citizens of the United States may soon be able to travel to the country of Cuba without restrictions. If this bill passes, Americans will be able to freely travel to Cuba for the first time since 1963.

Bill Delahunt, a Democratic representative of Massachusetts and eight additional cosponsors introduced the bill that has drawn praise from President Barack Obama. During Obama’s campaign, he openly encouraged a change in the United States’ diplomacy with Cuba.

Prior to the restrictions put on travel to Cuba, many Americans visited the island for vacation. The many casinos on the island made it a favorite for gamblers. Nowadays, Cuba still gets a good deal of tourism dollars, especially from countries in Europe. If this bill becomes law, however, expect a big spike in Cuba’s tourist industry.

Not only is this bill potentially good news for Americans who wish to visit the vast beaches of Cuba, it is also good news for the struggling Cuban economy. Many travel experts expect a flurry of hotels and resorts to be built in Cuba as a result of the passage of the Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act.

I’d definitely try to take a trip there. Could go visit some Hemingway sites. Just hope I have a job and enough money for the flight.

Its about time, I’ve been wanting to travel to Cuba a while now, but would loose my job if I travel there due to restrictions in my industry. This is the best news I’ve heard in about 46 years.
