With many people in the world “going green” and lending a helping hand to the world around them whenever possible, it is no surprise that the travel industry has seen a rise in the number of green travelers in recent years. Ecotourism is the name given to this still relatively new phenomenon that is quickly gaining steam.
Although many travel accommodations around the world claim to be green, a number of false claims have been uncovered over the years. To help keep track of which green hotels and other travel vendors really offers true green results and which aren’t all they claim to be, a new website has been founded. WholeTravel.com was just launched earlier this month, it is already making waves in the travel industry.
At WholeTravel.com, you can find a growing database of ecotourism reviews. Most of the destinations are graded in four areas (environment, economic, social & cultural, and customer service) to create their “Whole Ranking Scores.” You can search the locations by activities, amenities, terrains, destinations or by their Whole Rankings. The site has also offers a wealth of photos and maps, in addition to their Whole Travel blog, which intends to bring you the latest sustainable travel news.
To help with the rating system, WholeTravel.com has partnered with non-profit organizations from every part of the globe. Additionally, visitors to the site can leave notes, reviews and recommendations about specific accommodations.
