Can you believe ancient Roman artifacts are still being discovered? Seems like history is a roll call of neverending surprises, and the Roman dishes and bowls now on display at the Museum of London are proof of that.

The find came when earlier this year a 1960s building was demolished. A Roman well was found underneath it and when they opened it up, a treasure trove of coins, dishes, buckets and even a wooden door were found. There was even the skull of a bear, which they presume died after a fight in the nearby amphitheatre.

You will have to hurry in to the Museum of London to see the special exhibition displaying this important find, because at the moment it’s a temporary show until January 28, 2008. After the exhibition closes, historians will study the pieces in more detail and then sometime in the future they will be incorporated in to a permanent exhibition.

If you do visit the Museum of London, be aware that it is under renovation, and about half of the museum is currently inaccessible to the public. You are currently able to visit the upper galleries, which showcase London’s history from ancient times up until 1666. You can find the Roman exhibition in the foyer display area.
