The Magic Fountain of Montjuic is a bit of a misnomer because any magic the fountain might have is due to the engineering prowess of Carles Buigas. Built for the 1929 World Fair, The Magic Fountain of Montjuic was brought from concept to finish in less than a year through the efforts of more than 3,000 workers. 80 years later, the fountain’s “magic” attracts more than 2.5 million visitors who flock to see the water and light show choreographed to music that plays over loudspeakers.
