If you are planning a vacation to a Walt Disney park, your best bet is to delay your trip to 2009 and get ready to celebrate your birthday Disney style. The reason being that Disney recently announced that free admission will be offered to those people celebrating a birthday.
To get the free admission, all you will have to do is show identification and proof of your birthday and you’ll be admitted at no cost. This deal is available at Disney parks in the United States such as Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
Although a birthday will get you into the park for free, everything else within the park will cost the same amount of money. Additionally, most birthday goers are expected to bring along friends and family to celebrate. For those reasons, many experts expect this marketing maneuver by Disney to make the company a substantial amount of money in the long run.
Disney will begin a series of television ads to promote their free birthday admission policy. Hollywood stars are already taking note, as Miley Cyrus has already announced that she will visit Disneyland on her 16th birthday.
For more information or to register your birthday visit, go to DisneyParks.com.

Orlando seems like it would be an easy place to find food for kids. After all, it’s where Disney World is located. And that’s true – there are many terrific restaurants all throughout the city that offer food for children. The problem is that most adults don’t want to eat at those places. It’s not that the food isn’t good; it’s that it’s not great. It’s made for kids, designed to be cheap and lacks the traditional taste that adults want when dining out.

Sure, Orlando has the Disney theme parks and Universal Studios and a dozen or so lesser theme parks, but the city also has a surprising number of things to do without spending a dime.
- Morse Museum of American Art - One doesn’t usually equate Orlando with art museums, but the city boasts an example facility in the Morse Museum of American Art. Among other things, the museum is home to the world’s largest collection of early 20th century glass art by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Admission is free to all on Fridays from 4pm to 8pm.
- Lake Eola - Located in the heart of Orlando, this 23-acre park is a relaxing oasis in the midst of the city. The park is known for its fountain in the middle of the lake and its many events, including the city’s 4th of July fireworks display. There’s also a band shell, a children’s playground, and live swans.
- Celebration - Celebration is the town that Disney created. It might seem a little too perfect to some, with a bizarre Stepford-Wife-type feel, but there’s no denying that the homes and gardens in this town of 2700 residents are showplaces and interesting to look at. Celebration, located adjacent to the Walt Disney World parks, hosts a number of free festivals throughout the year, or just stroll along the town’s well-manicured paths.

You won’t be lacking for things to do when you plan to spend a day (or more) at Universal City Walk in Orlando, Florida. This entertainment complex is filled with everything from souvenir shopping to well-known performances by theater stars like Blue Man Group. In the midst of all of this busy activity, you are going to find yourself getting hungry. Of course, since the place covers over 30 acres of space, there are plenty of restaurants to satisfy your cravings.
Here are the 10 restaurants to consider.
- Bob Marley Tribute to Freedom - You’ll find dining, drinking and dancing at this restaurant, which is set up to resemble the famous reggae musician’s home. The restaurant offers historical information about Marley’s life and the role his music played in our history. It also offers Jamaican cuisine and drink specials, but the experience is at least as important as the food.
- Bubba Gump Shrimp Company - Remember the scene in Forrest Gump where they list all of the different shrimp dishes that you could make? You’ll find them all–plus some other foods for the people in your group that aren’t interested in shrimp–here.
- City Jazz - As the name would suggest, you’ll find live jazz music playing at this restaurant. You’ll also find a full menu of your favorite foods.
- Emeril’s - You might not think of fine dining when you’re headed to Orlando, but that doesn’t mean it’s not available. If you’re hoping to locate a romantic restaurant with wine on the menu and a celebrity chef in the kitchen, look no further than Emeril’s.
- Hard Rock Cafe Orlando - You don’t need an introduction to the Hard Rock Cafe. You’ve probably visited one or two of them around the world before. But what you need to know about the one at City Walk is that it’s the biggest of all of them!
- Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville - You will go here for the drinks. With three different bars designed after bars mentioned in the singer’s drinking songs, you can help but want to imbibe some alcohol. But you’ll be happier if you also eat the Caribbean-inspired food that fills up the menu at this live music restaurants.
- Latin Quarter - Pretend that you’ve traveled to South America by exploring the tastes of over 20 Latin American nations at this restaurant. The style is a combination of Latin and Native American influences from decor to dessert.
- NBA City - If you think you know every basketball stat there is, challenge yourself with a trip to this educational spot. Or just got and watch the game on one of the big screen tv’s that you’ll find here. Burgers and buffalo wings will satisfy the appetite that you work up cheering for your favorite team.
- Pastamore - If you’ve got a big group, you need family-style dining. Order big plates of Italian food and set them in the middle of the table for everyone to share. Top it off with gelato that tastes like it came straight from Italy.
- Pat O’Brien’s - Do you wish that you’d gone to New Orleans instead of Orlando during your vacation? Go no further than this restaurant, which recreates the southern party city.

Disney World is one of the most frequently visited family vacation destinations in the world. Because of this, it might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think about romantic travel destinations. But there is romance at Disney World, and plenty of adult activities.
In fact, one of the top romantic restaurants in Disney World just implemented a little-used rule that forbids kids from dining there. And there’s not a “one size fits all” type of honeymoon at Disney World either; you can create the kind of retreat that suits your relationship.
To get started with a Disney World honeymoon, you’ll want to head to the Disney website and figure out which honeymoon style is right for you. Choose from five basic options: adventurous, exotic, luxurious, relaxing or “distinctly Disney.” Even if you decide not to book through the site, (although you should because of the discounts it offers to honeymooners), you’ll get a good idea of how to play the ideal Disney World Honeymoon.
One of the best features for couples that you can access through this same site is their Honeymoon Gift Registry. The types of gifts available through the registry match the type of honeymoon you select through the site. You choose everything from accommodations to entertainment that you would like to enjoy on the vacation and then your wedding guests can help foot the bill. It’s a great way to save money and to actually get a gift that you’ll use.
Travel agents and wedding planners can also help you create the perfect Disney World Honeymoon.
