Late February and early March is spring training season in central Florida. The so-called “Grapefruit League” (as opposed to the “Cactus League” that plays in Arizona) consists of no fewer than 18 major league ball clubs. Where else can you see so much talent within a two-hour drive. Spring training is a great place to see new talent and to view the action up close. Exhibition games start in early March and continue until just before opening day.

The Grapefruit League teams, stadiums, and cities are as follows:

  • Atlanta Braves: Champion Stadium, Lake Buena Vista
  • Baltimore Orioles: Fort Lauderdale Stadium, Ft. Lauderdale
  • Boston Red Sox: City of Palms Park, Fort Myers
  • Cincinnati Reds: Ed Smith Stadium, Sarasota
  • Cleveland Indians: Chain of Lakes Park, Winter Haven
  • Detroit Tigers: Joker Marchant Stadium, Lakeland
  • Florida Marlins: Roger Dean Stadium, Jupiter
  • Houston Astros: Osceola County Stadium, Kissimmee
  • Los Angeles Dodgers: Holman Stadium, Vero Beach
  • Minnesota Twins: Hammond Stadium, Ft. Myers
  • New York Mets: Tradition Field, Port St. Lucie
  • New York Yankees: Legends Field, Tampa
  • Philadelphia Phillies: Bright House Networks Field, Clearwater
  • Pittsburgh Pirates: McKechnie Field, Bradenton
  • St. Louis Cardinals: Roger Dean Stadium, Jupiter
  • Tampa Bay Rays: Progress Energy Park, St. Petersburg
  • Toronto Blue Jays: Knology Park, Dunedin
  • Washington Nationals: Space Coast Stadium, Viera

Tickets start at around $10 for most teams and may be purchased online via your favorite MLB team’s Web site. Many teams also sponsor travel packages.

I’ve waited umpatientely to attend as much as possible games of Spring Training because I love sport to the ended. I don’t practice it much but I do enjoy watcing games. Last year I’ve some problems related to tickets but this year a frien has solved me thisproblem. He’s recommended me a website where to compare ticket prices before booking. This way I may attend withresonable prices:

I wish good luck to all teams. I hope they’ll begin good season after the Spring Training.
