Houston Texas is the fourth largest city in the United States and is gaining notoriety for being one of the best places to dine. The crop of new and incredible restaurants in this previously ignored city is magnificent and needs to be explored by anyone visiting Houston.

Pappas Brothers Steakhouse

With roots that go as deep as Houston there is no way you could shake the ranching tradition out of Houston’s dining scene. Pappas Brothers Steakhouse has been around for more than 60 years and has earned a special place in the hearts of local Houstonians. Only quality ingredients are chosen to be used in Pappas Brother’s signature dishes and each meal is prepared with attention to detail. In addition the wine cellar features more than 2,300 different vintages so you can select your favorite wine pairing to go with every dish. And don’t skip dessert, made fresh daily from the Pappas bakery dessert is one thing you can’t skip when you dine here. And for those who don’t find the desserts decadent enough, head into the lounge and enjoy a fine cognac or single malt scotch and one of the 60 different cigars available to guests. Pappas is old fashioned goodness from start to finish.

Strip House

Another steakhouse that’s become one of the local favorites is Houston’s Strip House. In fact, Strip House has garnered such acclaim that it’s been named one of the Top Ten Best Steakhouses in America by Maxim Magazine and one of America’s Greatest Steakhouses by GQ Magazine. In addition to their noted steaks, Strip House takes pride in their decadent side dishes such as the truffle creamed spinach, goose fat potatoes and the famed 24 layer chocolate cake. But one does wonder if the aforementioned male centric magazines are more excited by the provocative images of women on the walls than they were the steaks. But either way, steaks and half naked women, it sounds like the perfect restaurant for many men.

Mark’s American Cuisine

Voted the most romantic restaurant in Houston, Mark’s American Cuisine is situated in a 1920’s church with golden ceilings, hand painted walls and candlelit tables. Led by Chef Mark Cox the food at Mark’s American Cuisine will take your breath away. With four unique menus to choose from you begin your culinary journey on the right note. The Seasonal Menus highlight the local tastes of the season with super fresh ingredients that change regularly. The Recommended Menus feature the Chef’s recommendations which change twice daily. The Verbal Menus change many times throughout the day to highlight dishes that have just been completed and are known as the freshest meals around. And the traditional menu with some of your favorites for the less experimental in the crowd.

Rioja

Rioja is not the finest dining in all of Houston, in fact it’s not even close but it’s certainly one of the hottest places to eat in the city. Meals here are served tapas style so bring a group of friends and order a slew of incredible plates to share. Take note that the paella at Rioja is well known for being the best around and you won’t be disappointed in this order.

Chez Nous

For French food in the heart of Texas, Chez Nous is the place to go. This is another award winning restaurant which delights its guests, especially the ones looking for a romantic getaway. The meals at Chez Nous are carefully prepared to bring forth the highlights of each ingredient, melding them together in a concoction that you won’t soon forget. The selections are a little pricey but definitely not the most expensive out there. Take full advantage of your visit by exploring the entire menu from appetizer to dessert.

Indika

Houston may not be the city you think of when you think of progressive Indian food, that is until you’ve eaten at Indika. Once you’ve had Indika’s progressive Indian food you’ll want to keep coming back to experience it again and again. It’s no wonder that Indika has earned the title Best Indian Restaurant and continues to win raves from guests and reviewers. But one of the things that makes Indika very unique and quite popular is its cooking classes. Typically held on the fourth Sunday of every month the classes teach you how to create some of the wonderful Indian flavors that you love so much.

Da Marco

Da Marco was once known as the most exciting place to dine in the city of Houston, while they competition has stepped up to the plate a bit more it’s still one of the more exciting places around. The food can be edgy and sometimes features things like homemade headcheese and it can also be comforting like heirloom potato salad. It is Italian food made with perfectly simple elegance. Owned and operated by Chef Marco Wiles and his wife the restaurant is obviously more than just a business venture to the couple, it’s personal.

Kubo’s

It seems like you can’t talk about hot and happening restaurants these days without including at least one sushi restaurant. In Houston Kubo’s is that restaurant. The goal of the restaurant under owner Youchi Ueno was to bring traditionally healthy traditional Japanese cuisine to the Houston audience. Apparently Ueno has succeeded as Kubo’s has been named the most authentic Japanese food in the city. With two of the best Japanese chefs around, Executive Chef Manabu Horiuchi and Sous Chef Yu Suzuki, it’s no wonder that every meal at Kubo’s is an amazing journey to the orient. And it must be said that the key to good sushi is the quality and freshness of the fish, something you’ll never question at Kubo’s.

Tony’s

Tony’s open and lively environment is a hint at what’s to come. The cuisine at Tony’s is contemporary European features some of the freshest proteins around. Tony’s prides itself on its attention to detail, not only are the ingredients the freshest available but the entire staff looks to anticipate the needs of their guests from start to finish. Owned by noted local restaurateur, Tony Vallone, the restaurant has an image to uphold in the community and meets this mark by providing guests with the top notch cuisine they’ve come to expect from Tony’s.

New Orleans has long been known as a city full of incredible gastronomical delights. The Cajun and southern flavors of New Orleans blend with a style that is all New Orleans and all amazing. You’ll find wonderful restaurants on almost every block but it’s the fine dining in New Orleans that has really catapulted to the forefront in the past few years and firmly established New Orleans as one of the best cities to visit for fine dining experiences.

Antoine’s

Since 1840 Antoine’s has been cultivating its well earned reputation as one of the best restaurants in New Orleans. With an incredible 15 different dining rooms, each with its own personality, Antoine’s is a magnificent dining experience. When dining at Antoine’s be sure to order the Oysters Rockefeller. This dish was created by Jules Alciatore, the son of Antoine and although you may find Oysters Rockefeller all over the world, the original recipe is a closely guarded secret and only found at Antoine’s.

Arnaud’s

Arnaud’s has earned a reputation the world over for its incredible delectable delights they plate daily for their guests. The fine dining experience is enhanced by images of the famed celebrities who have also dined within the walls and strolling musicians playing a perfect accompaniment of jazz. When at Arnaud’s make sure to take the time to visit the Mardi Gras Museum on the second floor, it’s a hidden treasure.

Brennan’s

Brennan’s is one restaurant that is spoken of by many visitors to New Orleans, it’s one of those tried and true restaurants that locals and tourists alike love. Their 35,000 bottle wine cellar is one of the reasons for all of the raves. The other is the tradition established by founder, Owen Edward Brennan, who brought New Orleans cuisine to a different level. Remember to order the Bananas Foster, a dish created at Brennan’s in the 1950’s by Paul Blange.

Broussard’s

Broussard’s has a long standing tradition of serving some of the finest food in New Orleans. Another restaurant in the heart of Bourbon Street, Broussard’s seems to transport you to another time and place with its hand painted tiles, lush court yard and three individually styled dining rooms. Having been inducted into the Fine Dining Hall of Fame, Broussard’s is truly an experience to remember. The upscale dining experience is matched, if not bested, by the food. Traditional Creole food served with a uniquely American touch makes Broussard’s a must for fine dining enthusiasts in New Orleans.

Commander’s Palace

This beautiful Victorian home, tucked amid the Greek Revival homes of the Garden District is hard to miss and with good reason. If the stately elegance of the Commander’s Palace restaurant doesn’t attract you then the incredible aroma’s wafting out of its kitchen will draw you in. The cuisine is Creole inspired with deep nods to the local Louisiana culture. In fact Chef Tory McPhail has come up with a motto of “dirt to plate within 100 miles” meaning he strives to bring 90% of the ingredients to your plate from within a 100 mile radius of the restaurant. One of the keys to doing this are the 1403 herbs grown on the very roof of the Commander’s Palace. It would be difficult to find another restaurant that embraces the flavors of the region with as much reverence.

Emeril’s Delmonico

You can’t think about New Orleans cuisine without the name Emeril Lagasse coming to mind. So why not take a stab at Emeril’s Delmonico restaurant, the most upscale of his restaurants in the region. This restaurant has been a local standard since 1895 and has been under the leadership of Emeril since 1997. Unfortunately Katrina ravaged the restaurant but it’s been rebuilt and is once again alive and kicking with Creole energy.

Galvez Restaurant

Galvez Restaurant takes a new approach to the old flavors of New Orleans. Rather than focusing on the French, Creole, and Cajun flavors Galvez Restaurant pays homage to the continental Spanish roots of the city and brings these flavors to the fore. Served in Spanish style with small tapas plates you get to explore and experience many of their signature dishes and flavor profiles.

GW Fins

GW Fins serves the fines seafood around and insists on using only the freshest local seafood at their peak which is why each day brings a new menu to the table. Voted one of the Top 20 Best New Restaurants in America, this jewel is not to be missed, especially if you’re in the mood for some incredible seafood served with a New Orleans sensibility.

Jean Lafitte’s Bistro

Jean Lafitte’s Bistro is an incredibly beautiful restaurant with hand painted murals, early 19th century art, crystal chandeliers and an authentic 1807 fireplace. The Moran family is known throughout the French Quarter for its successful restaurants, Jean Lafitte Bistro is their latest addition to the family. Their twist on traditional New Orleans offerings is to bring you fresh, local and flavorful foods full of seasoning and spice but never burning with heat.

Le Meritage

Le Meritage is a creative approach to dining where the focus is actually more on the wine than the meal but don’t be mislead the food is still the star. The menu features six categories of wine separated by their characteristics and the dishes are then designed to complement the flavor profiles. You can choose to have the dishes tapas style or as a full meal. I recommend going with the small plates so you have room to taste more of the incredible fare at Le Meritage.

The Embers

You’ve probably seen pictures of The Embers and didn’t realize you were looking at one of the oldest and most famous restaurants in New Orleans. Built in the late 1800’s the building eventually became the Bourbon House and served many locals, tourists and celebrities throughout its years. These days The Embers is known for its fresh Louisiana seafood, prime steaks, and authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine. And there’s nothing quite like enjoying the fine dining experience of The Embers from one of the best known buildings right in the heart of Bourbon Street.

If you’re visiting San Francisco then you’re in luck when it comes to gastronomical delights. The city is a bona fide foodie hotspot and gaining critical acclaim for the variety of cuisine and the incorporation of incredible fresh local produce and seafood. Some of the hottest restaurants on the scene in San Francisco are listed below.

Gary Danko

Gary Danko is an award winning chef and brings his fantastic cuisine to the San Francisco market with his self named restaurant, Gary Danko. The restaurant in its seventh year has earned its sixth Five Star rating from Mobil and has been listed as a Relais & Chateau designation. The intimate restaurant features some of the most attentive wait staff in the city and some classic food that is sure to delight. Gary Danko prides himself on his tried and true recipes and refuses to be cutting edge and trendy when it comes to food. The prix-fixe menu is probably the way to go with three, four, or five course meals and wine pairings can be added to each course for an additional fee. The wine cellar features more than 1,500 wines so even if you decide to go off of the prix-fixe you can find a wine that will perfectly fit the meal. If wine is not your cup of tea, how about a cup of tea? Gary Danko now features a tea service with selected tease form the Rishi Tea Company.

Dottie’s True Blue Café

Sometimes the hottest restaurants aren’t the newest, the most cutting edge or ones with noted chefs, sometimes they’re like Dottie’s True Blue Café, an old staple that serves comfort diner style food. Come for breakfast or lunch (as they’re not open for dinner) and be prepared to stand in line for quite a while. The food isn’t necessarily good for you but it’s incredible tasting and everything is made fresh, including the baked goods.

Fleur de Lys

Speaking of famous chefs, there is almost none more famous than Hubert Keller, the Chef and Owner of Fleur de Lys. Noted as one of the most romantic restaurants in San Francisco, Fleur de Lys has been a staple in this city for more than 45 years. It wasn’t until 1986 that Hubert Keller joined the restaurant and together with his co-owner Maurice Rouas they brought Fleur de Lys to new levels. The menu at Fleur de Lys lets guests choose from three, four and even five course menus with a variety of appetizers and entrees and extras. There are also a number of vegetarian selections for the non-meat eaters in the crowd.

Chapeau!

It almost seems crazy to open a French restaurant in a city that already houses Chef Hubert Keller, but Chapeau! does it and does it well. This upscale dining room is full of romantic French touches and the owners do their best to reach out to each customer and make their visit enjoyable. The food is traditional country fare, nothing fancy or imaginative here, just the old classics with a French emphasis. The multi course prix-fixe menu gives you a great way to sample a variety of the best selections on the menu. And if you’re willing to arrange your schedule, the early bird specials are incredible values and a good way to experience Chapeau!

Boulevard

Since its opening in 1993 Boulevard has been a favorite in the San Francisco area with Chef Nancy Oakes at the helm. The beautiful Belle Époque style of the restaurant makes it a destination in itself but the amazing American regional flavors with French influenced style makes the meal something you won’t soon forget. Located in the popular waterfront area in the historic Audiffred Building this restaurant is the perfect way to cap off an evening after a day exploring San Francisco’s waterfront.

Aqua

Speaking of the waterfront, it’s hard to ignore San Francisco’s proximity to the ocean so it just goes to reason that there are some incredible seafood restaurants in the area and Aqua is one of the best. Aqua is upscale and elegant with a theatrical sense about it. Having earned a two star from the Michelin Guide you know that this restaurant is one of the best and with the freshest local and imported seafood its one of the best restaurants for seafood with a European flair.

Greens Restaurant

Executive Chef Annie Somerville has earned quite a reputation for herself and Greens Restaurant with her unique approach to vegetarian cooking. Whether you’re a vegetarian or not, you’ll love the cuisine at Greens Restaurant because it features the freshest seasonal organic ingredients in incredibly creative ways. The dishes are created not just for flavor but they also take color and texture into consideration to provide a dish that really puts its best foot forward. Expect flavors from the Mediterranean, Mexico, and the American Southwest.

Masa’s

Masa’s in San Francisco is a fine dining experience that shouldn’t be missed if you’re in the area. Their noted Californian French cuisine is headed by Chef Gregory Short and marries classic French techniques with Californian ingredients. This particular region of the country is bursting with fresh produce and other ingredients which gives them a variety of directions to take any seasonal fare. Expect greatness each and every time you visit Masa’s.

Mama’s on Washington Square

Another long time favorite for the citizens of San Francisco, Mama’s on Washington Square has been a family owned and run business for almost 50 years and has always been in the same location. The quaint cozy restaurant is welcoming to all and there can be a wait as the dining room only seats about 50 people, max. The food is all fresh and made entirely on premises, even the baked goods. Take advantage of those specialty homemade breads as they may be some of the best you’ve ever had. Weekends are extraordinary with different specials and 11 different kinds of omelets. Again, another restaurant that only serves breakfast and lunch so plan on having one of the best meals of the day early.

A family adventure in Orlando is something most families attempt at least once, some actually make the trip annually. But even in Orlando, finding a family friendly restaurant that is priced right and will serve a variety of nutritious meals that your kids will eat is a challenge. Luckily there are some restaurants that will fit all of your requirements and in addition to catering to your children, they’ll serve you a meal that you’ll enjoy as well.

McDonald’s

Let’s get this one out of the way right off the bat, McDonald’s is known as a family fun place and their new menu includes healthier items for children AND you know your kids will love it but we’re not suggesting just any old McDonalds, if you’re going to go to McDonald’s when you’re in Orlando then you just have to visit the one on Sand Lake Road. This particular McDonald’s features the world’s largest PlayPlace and you have no idea how huge it is until you stop there. The gigantic play area is designed for children while a smaller area is set aside for toddlers, teens will love the arcade games and for parents there is a relaxing waterfall and a 500 gallon aquarium. And to make the experience even more upscale, the menu features additional bistro items and expanded dessert selections.

Rainforest Café

Another restaurant that your family may be familiar with is the Rainforest Café. The Rainforest Café is a little over the top, okay it’s a lot over the top but the level of excitement and activity will keep your children occupied until their meals come and the meals are typically better than you’d expect from a themed restaurant. If you can let go of candlelit dinner expectations it will probably be an enjoyable experience for everyone. In addition, the Rainforest Café store gives you a place to shop while you’re waiting or to find educational toys to keep your children occupied and maybe just a little bit educated.

NBA City

If there are sports fans in your family then NBA City is a must see stop on your itinerary, especially if basketball is a family favorite. The restaurant is designed to look like and arena from the 1940’s era and features an interactive game area, big screen televisions and a retail store full of pricey memorabilia. The basketball theme is pushed so far at NBA City that it’s twice been voted the best theme restaurant in Orlando. NBA City lets sports fans of all ages sit back and enjoy the game or at least the spirit of the game with what they term upscale, casual dining.

Soulplantation and Sweet Tomatoes

It seems you can’t list family friendly restaurants without including a pizza restaurant or two, so we bring you something totally new, Soulplantation and Sweet Tomatoes. This restaurant knows how to make pizzas that your children will love but they also know how to sneak in a lot of nutritional ingredients. In fact, they might even force mom and dad to eat better than they usually do. The huge buffet is loaded with fresh foods in the form of salads, endless pizza, pasta, soups, fruit and frozen yogurt. Soulplantation claims to bring the freshest ingredients to its customers by bringing them from ground to refrigerated truck within 24 hours. Believe it or not, the buffet selections are prepared fresh from scratch every single day. Pretty good for a buffet, in fact, their food is pretty good for any restaurant.

Spoodles

Another pizza restaurant you may want to check out, especially if you’re staying on the Disney grounds, is the very popular Spoodles. Located on Disney’s Boardwalk, Spoodles claims to be more than just a pizza joint, rather it’s a trip around the Mediterranean with coastal cuisine selections from Greece, Italy, Spain, and North Africa. Their official label for their fare is “cuisine of the sun”. But your kids don’t care about that, they want pizza and Spoodles makes pizza extra fun by using fire ovens where you can actually watch your pizza being made. In addition you’ll find lively music and entertainment to keep everyone happy (or at least distracted) throughout the meal.

Café Tu Tu Tango

If you’ve got a little one who is obsessed with tea parties, then Café Tu Tu Tango might be the best place to go for a real-live tea party. The unique attitude and atmosphere at Café Tu Tu Tango makes it an interesting place for parents and children to grab a meal. The restaurant has a serious bent for local arts and eclectic fun. Food at Café Tu Tu Tango is served tapas style with small selections that are meant to be shared by everyone. This is great for those who have a policy of taste everything but for those with more particular tastes there is a children’s menu which should please their palates. And make sure you have the tea to complete your tea party.

Boston Lobster Feast

Boston Lobster Feast is a wonderful place to bring the kids if you’re looking for fresh seafood at a great bargain. Children under four eat for free and those under 11 get the feast at half price. The feast we speak of is an all you can eat buffet that is unbelievable. Filled with piles of lobster, crab, shrimp, mussels, crawfish, oysters, chowder, claims, salmon, London broil, roast beef, pasta and a dessert bar. This restaurant is the perfect solution for families with big appetites and a love of seafood.

O’Boys BBQ

O’Boys BBQ serves up big bar-b-que flavor with high fresh ingredients that are cooked up fresh daily. Having won accolades for their quality and service O’Boys BBQ’s laid back atmosphere is family fun and comfortable for everyone looking to relax and enjoy a quality meal. And as a bonus, children under 12 can choose off the Small Pups menu where they can pick smaller portions of BBQ selections or standard favorites like hot dogs, hamburgers, grilled cheese and chicken tenders.

San Diego is one of those up and coming foodie communities that is just beginning to really eke out a name for itself in the culinary scene. As the tides come and go along the shores of this seaside city so does the fame and popularity of the local dining establishments. So what may be the hottest, trendiest place today may not be pulling in the see and be seen crowd tomorrow.

Baci Ristorante

Baci Ristorante has been called San Diego’s best Italian restaurant but it’s the ambience that really gets the rave reviews. Baci Ristorante features a little bit of old world Italian charm with a touch of classic elegance and a warm friendly environment that makes you feel right at home. The food is northern Italian in influence with fresh pasta, veal, and fresh seafood. Executive Chef Domenico Alioto also creates daily specials designed to take advantage of the freshest ingredients available. Not a newcomer to the restaurant scene, Baci Ristorante has been a stable in San Diego for about 30 years and will probably continue to garner raves. 1955 West Morena Boulevard San Diego, CA 92110 – (619) 275-2094

Bertrand at Mister A’s

There may be no better view in all of San Diego than from Bertrand at Mister A’s. The restaurant touts its views and wrap around balcony as though it’s the only reason to visit and they’re certainly selling themselves short, the food at Bertrand at Mister A’s is definitely worthy of a little credit. Modern American cuisine is the theme but there are layers of French and Mediterranean influences throughout. The menu is seasonal and designed to take advantage of the current harvests. Bertrand at Mister A’s was once considered a special occasion restaurant but a more casual atmosphere is currently the standard so don’t save it for a special day but enjoy it anytime you like. 2550 5th Avenue #406 San Diego, CA 92103 – (619) 239-1377

Addison

The famed The Grand Del Mar resort is home to this five star restaurant and it’s no wonder the two are paired together. Both signify elegance and an exclusive sense of decadence. Addison restaurant is actually named after the resort’s architect, Addison Mizner and brings Chef William Bradley’s artisanal approach to the region. The theme of the food is distinctly French but there is a contemporary flair that brings today’s latest trend, fresh local ingredients, to the forefront. The atmosphere at Addison is European and elegant with large arched windows and phenomenal views of the golf course beyond. As you enter the dining area you can’t help but notice the center of the room is occupied by the wine collection, take a cue from the restaurant and make a bottle of their extraordinary wine the center of your meal. 5200 Grand Del Mar Way San Diego, CA 92130 – (858) 314-1900

The Oceanaire Seafood Room

The Oceanaire Seafood Room in San Diego brings you the freshest seafood from around the world, flown in each and every day. Menus are created daily to highlight the fresh catch and meals are designed around the fish with it as the highlight, meaning recipes are simple and complement the meat perfectly. Many ingredients are local and seasonal as the freshest fish simply can’t be served with canned or frozen ingredients. Seasoned wine stewards are on hand at Oceanaire to help you select the perfect wine for your meal and can even help you plan a meal around a wine if you wish. For those who love oysters, sidle up to the raw bar at Oceanaire for fresh oysters as well as lobsters, crab and clams. At the raw bar you can order your favorite or let the staff create a sampling of the day’s best.

Sushi Ota

For fish so fresh you can eat it raw, try Sushi Ota. Not the fanciest of restaurants in town but one so good it’s become a bona fide hotspot. It’s everything great sushi should be, the food is fresh and amazing, the atmosphere is low key, and the service is fast and friendly. Remember it’s a verified hotspot so you’ll be wise to make reservations or be prepared to wait in line. 4529 Mission Bay Drive San Diego, WA 92109 – (858) 270-5670

Confidential Restaurant & Loft

Confidential Restaurant & Loft is so small it’s more bar than restaurant, until you taste the food. This award winning restaurant is small and intimate with a distinctly contemporary feel. The cuisine focuses on tapas and small plates which is perfect for sharing. Don’t expect to be uncomfortably full when you leave but be certain that you’ll be tasting some incredible little dishes that you’ll be craving in the near future. Do take advantage of the bar scene too as it is part of the charm of this trendy San Diego restaurant. 901 4th Avenue San Diego, CA 92101 – (619) 696-8888

Red Pearl Kitchen

If you’ve been to the Red Pearl Kitchen in Huntington Beach you won’t be decided by its sister restaurant in the Gas Lamp District of San Diego. This is another restaurant that has discovered contemporary dining with a vibrant bar scene is all the rage. The cuisine at Red Pearl Kitchen focuses on authentic Chinese and East Asian recipes with a fusion sensibility. Another hot spot with smaller servings, lots of alcohol, higher prices and loads of local ambiance. 440 J Street San Diego, CA 92101 – (619) 231-1100

The Marble Room

The Marble Room somehow manages to combine the old fashioned luxury of a 1950’s supper club with the modern elegance of a contemporary restaurant. Its quality food that people love served in a warm and happening environment. You’ll get your money’s worth here and be delighted with the food and service. If the weather is right (and when isn’t it in San Diego) then have a cocktail or two on the terrace and enjoy people watching in the Gas Lamp District. Make sure to ask about the name, The Marble Room, it comes with a risqué and interesting tale. 535 5th Avenue San Diego, CA 92101 – (619) 702-5595

Casual dining in Boston runs the gamut from super casual bar food to upscale casual which borders on fine dining. But either way you slice it, the town knows how to do casual dining.

Casual dining in Boston runs the gamut from super casual bar food to upscale casual which borders on fine dining. But either way you slice it, the town knows how to do casual dining.

Equator

Equator is a family owned business with authentic Thai cuisine in a very Thai atmosphere. The food is wonderfully authentic and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. But one of the best parts about Equator is you don’t have to get dressed up for a fabulous dinner. In fact it’s perfect if you’re just popping in on a last minute whim.

Kashmir

Kashmir is one of a collection of Indian restaurants in the Boston area that are called One World Cuisine. Kashmir brings Indian flavors and traditions together with modern approaches to food and the result is incredible. Kashmir has a great décor but if the weather is cooperating head outside for the patio seating. Kashmir does take reservations but they’re typically not necessary and it’s a great stop for takeout, lunch or the weekend brunch buffet.

The Wine Cellar

The Wine Cellar is the only fondue and wine restaurant in the Boston area. There are several different oil based fondues to try but the cheese ones are really the highlight. And what goes better with cheese than wine? Cap off your evening with an incredible melted chocolate fondue with grapes, berries, pineapple, cantaloupe, and pirouette wafers. Bring your friends along because fondue takes a while and is interactive which means it’s more fun with good friends and even better conversation.

Vox Populi

Vox Populi is located in the historic Back Bay and a convenient stop for many downtown activities. The menu claims to be contemporary continental and is punctuated by a large variety of organically grown or harvested wild ingredients. Vox is open for brunch, lunch and dinner and the new patio is an excellent way to enjoy their culinary concoctions on a sunny day. If you’d just like to dip your toes in the water at Vox Populi then grab a seat at the bar and dive into the $5 small plate options.

Davio’s

Davio’s is one of the more upscale casual dining restaurants in Boston. No need for formal attire but you don’t want to look like you just came in from a wilderness hike either. Davio’s is a northern Italian steakhouse that serves hearty fares for those with big appetites. The food is delectable and worth a visit for anyone looking for an upscale casual atmosphere with food that compares with the best fine dining in the area.

Laurel

Laurel is owned by husband and wife team, Executive Chef Russ Berger and Executive Pastry Chef Sherry Berger, so a trip to Laurel really isn’t complete without having a homemade dessert to wrap things up. The restaurant is sort of a high scale bistro so dress casual is the motif here. Restaurant selections are fairly traditional bistro style dishes and are cooked to perfection. Remember to enjoy the whole experience from beginning to dessert.

Match Burgers & Martinis

Match Burgers & Martinis is a hip restaurant in Boston on the cutting edge of trendy with two of the big culinary fads leading the way, martinis and mini burgers. The atmosphere may not be built for everyone but earlier in the evening it’s more tame and relaxed, as the evening progresses the volume moves up a notch and the restaurant gathers a more club-like vibe. Take note that Match is open daily from 5pm to 1am so it’s great for a late night snack, especially on Tuesdays when the mini-beef burgers are only $1 or on Thursdays when women can order any entrée for $5.

The Elephant Walk

The Elephant Walk brings award winning Cambodian and French cuisine to the table. The Cambodian menu is full of traditional dishes from street food to high-end delicacies and even features a few original dishes in the traditional Cambodian style. The French portion of the menu is almost fully stocked with original dishes. Some claim that the food is a fusion of the two traditions, but they’re pretty separated, giving you a unique range of options that you can fuse yourself by order a little from each menu. It’s also a good place for vegetarians or those with food allergies as they work diligently to provide healthy alternative dining for everyone. The Elephant Walk is an upscale dining establishment so dress appropriately.

Stephanie’s on Newbury

Stephanie’s on Newbury is located in the upscale Back Bay region of Boston with street side dining for people watching or taking a load off between shopping trips. The atmosphere at Stephanie’s is incredible if you decide to forego the sidewalk the bar has a club-like feel and the dining area features a fireplace and sky-lit illumination. The food at Stephanie’s on Newbury is most often described as upscale comfort food, which means its food all Americans are familiar with done with a little flair.

Cottonwood Restaurant & Café

Cottonwood Restaurant & Café is an old staple in Back Bay but remains popular due to its three season patio dining, the fresh Southwest cuisine and award winning margaritas. Lunch menus are fairly priced and designed to get the working crowd in and out with new options daily. The dinner menu is for a slower pace with the mesquite grill playing center stage and fresh seasonal ingredients providing some variety. If you’re going to sit in the café, the more casual section, there is a lighter fare available at extended hours.

Oliveiras

Oliveiras is a pay by the pound buffet with a Brazilian touch. Not all pay by the pound restaurants are a good deal but this one is. And it’s a great way to experience Brazilian food for the first time, as you can sample just a bit of each thing and then decide which dishes you really like and go back for as much as you’d like. Be forewarned though, this is not a place for vegetarians as a lot of Brazilian food uses meat as the center piece and Oliveiras really relies on its meats.

Find casual dining options in Houston without scouring local reviews or magazines. Visitors may be surprised to find that some of the best dining options in Houston are actually casual dining establishments as this Texas city is long on hospitality and runs a little short on pomp and circumstance.

Dharma Café

Dharma Café in Houston is now located in the historic Kessler building and features a warm inviting atmosphere that welcomes guests as soon as they step through the door. The Dharma Café strives to keep the atmosphere romantic enough for a special night out but comfortable enough to welcome tourists wearing shorts and tennis shoes. The menu features something that the owners refer to as food for life, they define this as something that is unique and flavorful yet familiar and reflective of the way people live life. This is one of the hipper restaurants in the area so no matter what you wear you want to wear it well and look cool in the process.

Shade

Shade is a great little establishment that offers quality dining yet a casual atmosphere that even features outside accommodations. Shade is open daily for lunch and dinner and serves a great brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The menus is seasonal and brings a new, outside-of-the-box perspective to the ingredients. There is something about Shade that just makes you feel as though you’re a regular to this establishment even if it’s your first time. And if you’re a local you’re bound to become a regular.

Cascadas

Cascadas is aptly named as their waterfall is the aesthetic highlight of the restaurant. But the food will be the highlight of your visit. The Mexican inspired cuisine at Cascadas packs the menu to the brink with authentic dishes that are sure to delight everyone. There are several places to sit when you dine, but if the weather permits and there is room, ask to be seated on the outdoor patio with its beautiful landscaping and awesome 10-foot high waterfall. Try something from every area of the menu as there really are no misses at Cascadas.

La Strada

La Strada is on the nicer end of casual dining but what else would you expect from a restaurant that provides exquisite Italian food with a truly authentic flair. The atmosphere at La Strada is fun, energetic and suits the art district well. If you’re looking for a more casual atmosphere and the weather is willing, ask to be seated outside. The food at La Strada is great and predictably reliable. They’re best known for their Bellinis and if you’re interested in brunch then they are the place to hit on Sunday mornings.

Ouisie’s Table

Ouisie’s Table in Houston features great southern cuisine with a dash of Texas, Louisiana and Mexico rolled in. The main dining room is large but offer a touch of intimacy with slow turning ceiling fans and a wood burning fireplace. The additional rooms offer their own personality and can be reserved for private parties or suit those more interested in a casual night on the porch or outside. Owner and executive chef, Elouise Adams Jones spent more than a decade on Sunset Boulevard and decided to return to her home base to open her namesake restaurant. The recipes are consistent with a chef who was raised with a respect for local ingredients and the vibe that comes with southern cooking.

Ruggles Grille 5115

Ruggles Grill 5115 is one of the most popular restaurants in the Houston area, it’s also one of the most eclectic restaurants around. The menu starts with sandwiches, heads over to pizzas and pastas, and wraps back around to include grilled fish and steak. Something for everyone and yet somehow it all works and the experience is one to remember for the casual diner. The location, in the second floor of Saks 5th Avenue in the Galleria may turn some people off while seeming absolutely ideal to others. By being tucked into Saks there is a sense of class and sophistication assumed by patrons but the food is down to earth, reasonably prices and delicious.

Arcodoro

Arcodoro is another Galleria restaurant but this one is more about the owner, Efisio Farris and his Sardinian heritage with taste elements inspired by Costa Smeralda. Sardinian food is most recognized by its simple, rustic approach to ingredients and the resulting rich cuisine loaded with flavor and texture. There are two dining areas at Arcodoro, The Grill and The Dining Room. The Grill is the more casual option with spacious dining outdoors, a wood burning pizza oven and an emphasis on pasta and grilled selections. The Dining Room is much more formal and features daily specials.

Sullivan’s Steakhouse

Sullivan’s Steakhouse is a bit unusual for the Houston scene as it’s a hip and happening 1940’s Chicago style steakhouse. But the atmosphere works because Texans as well as Chicagoans know quality steaks and will take them no matter what region they’re from. Sullivan’s is bold enough that they take their specialty from another state with a 20 ounce bone-in Kansas City strip. In addition to the exciting steak and seafood menu options there is also a live entertainment element that makes your dining experience more inviting. The bars have live musicians seven nights a week and on Thursdays Swinging at Sully’s offers great music, food and drink features.

Baker’s Ribs

And finally, a Texas mainstay, the rib joint is a must for any visitor and a staple of the diet for any local. Baker’s Ribs is a good old fashioned family run restaurant that has become so popular they have locations popping up all over Texas. This comfortable rib joint knows how to cook a great meal and welcome guests to the table. It’s the ultimate in casual dining as you can stumble up to the counter and eat there or have a seat at a table that comes equipped with paper towels for cleaning drips of that delicious bar-b-que sauce.

No need to slip into your fanciest duds when going out on the town in Houston, stay comfy and head to one of the city’s casual dining options and enjoy of the best meals you’ve ever had.

Cleveland is a great place to go on a family vacation, it’s packed full of exciting things that an entire family can enjoy. From the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to an exciting day with the Cleveland Browns or relaxing cruise on the Nautica Queen Cruise Ship, there is a multitude of fun and enlightening things for a family to do on a vacation. But one thing that Cleveland knows better than most city’s with family activities is how to completely entertain a family, which includes creating family friendly food options that are inviting, tasty and healthy. Finding dining options for families on vacation is difficult in some cities and you’re stuck with the dreaded McDonald’s, but in Cleveland you’ve got a wide variety of restaurants to choose from.

Sweet Melissa’s

Sweet Melissa’s brings your family food that you can feel good about. They strive to provide guests with the freshest ingredients, organic options when available, no meats treated with hormones or antibiotics and they recycle. The restaurant is a fun earthy sort of place with a great menu and incredible bakery items. The food is typically American but has a little bit of a unique twist that should make it exciting for everyone.

Angelo’s Pizza

Angelo’s Pizza started off as a dream for owner Thomas Kess who opened his pizza shop in 1981 and relied upon video game sales to make ends meet. He eventually went to the American Baking Institute and visited Chicago and learned how to make one of the best crusts around. Today Angelo’s Pizza is one of the most successful pizzarias in the Cleveland area. The dough and sauce are made fresh daily and the ingredients are the freshest available. Angelo’s Pizza isn’t just about the pie though if you’ve got a finicky eater there are other options such as wings, pasta, salads, sandwiches and more. The perfect place for a family to enjoy a meal together.

Pizzazz

Pizzazz was created by John & Marie Spiccia in 1975 and became a local staple for pizza, but it’s not just about the pizza as this family restaurant is full of heart and tradition. The Pizzazz S.O.M. is run and operated by Mark and Val Gaspar. Mark began working at Pizzazz at age 14 and became so close to the family he eventually helped David Spiccia open the “new” Pizzazz. The original Pizzazz on the circle is a bit more contemporary and features much more than pizza with Executive Chef Brian Pekarcik and Executive Chef David Gopar bringing incredible Italian cuisine to the clientele. The atmosphere at Pizzazz is low key and casual, perfect for a family meal.

Hoggy’s

If your family is more into the traditional barbeque, or BBQ, as opposed to the Mongolian sort then Hoggy’s is the perfect palce to bring the family. Opened in 1991 Hoggy’s quickly became a favorite of locals and visitors alike. Pork, ribs and chicken are smoked BBQ style with sauce and made from scratch side dishes to complement every meal. If you happen to have a family member who leans away from the BBQ style cuisine then there are also salads, soups, steak, chicken and fish, there is even a mac-n-cheese that will typically satisfy the most finicky eater. Hoggy’s is exciting and fun for everyone in the family and on top of that the food is incredible and will leave you full for hours to come. And kids 12 and under eat free on Wednesdays after 4pm.

Aladdin’s Eatery

Aladdin’s Eatery is a unique eating experience, so if your children are a little adventurous then give them a try. The Lebanese American cuisine provides good tasting, nutritious meals that contain a unique flair and flavor. In addition to their traditional meals, Aladdin’s provides its clientele with vegetarian options, gluten free foods, and meals that are tailored to diabetics and those with heart concerns. It’s a great new experience with enough options on the menu that everyone in the family should be able to find something they like or love.

The Stone Oven Bakery Café

The Stone Oven Bakery Café is a wonderful place for soups, sandwiches and salads. The restaurant began in 1993 when Tatyana Rehn began baking her own bread and found such success with her European hearth-baked bread that soon her restaurant opened to the community. The breads and other bakery items are delightful but the soups, salads and sandwiches are equally good. This is a nice safe place to take your family, everyone will enjoy the atmosphere and the food choices, especially if you opt for dessert.

BD Mongolian Barbeque

BD Mongolian Barbeque is a unique option for families as everyone gets to decide what they want to eat, fill their bowls with ingredients themselves and watch the cooks fire their ingredients up on the Mongolian style barbeque grill. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming to all ages and the active, hands-on portion is a thrill for most youngsters. Its stir fry exactly the way you want it with your favorite ingredients.

El Rodeo

El Rodeo is perfect for the family who enjoys Mexican food as it features delightful family recipes that are authentic and will satisfy the Mexican food conneseur and there are stripped down meals for kids. On Mondays and Wednesday’s its kid’s night with Swifty the Clown entertaining the crew. On Sundays one child’s meal is free per table so it’s not only a family friendly palce but it’s pocketbook friendly as well. Sit back and enjoy your meal or a margarita while your kids head off to their special toy room stocked full of things to play with.

East Coast Original Frozen Custard

East Coast Original Frozen Custard was created in a quest to recapture dreams of the good old days in Euclid Beach Park. Frozen custard is ice cream with egg yolk blended in it to make it smoother and creamier. The owners of East Coast Original Frozen Custard spent years tyring to refine their recipe and create a machine to blend their custard. The name of the company is in homage to the original custard created on Coney Island. East Coast Original Frozen Custard may not fit the regular definition of restaurant (as they only serve custard) it’s really a great treat for everyone in the family so stop in and enjoy an original frozen custard.

Seattle is an usual place to dine because your get the wonderful combination of natural resources, waterfront locale, and an environmentalist attitude. Just add diners and stir and you’ve got the perfect recipe for incredible dining. So it’s no surprise that Seattle has some incredible hotspot dining restaurants that are not only drawing raves but repeat customers who just can’t get enough.

Kingfish Café

Kingfish Café is a rare treat in the Northwest, its southern cooking done right and extremely well. This family concoction takes the best of family tradition and recipes and mixes them together to create a top notch restaurant that has learned through trial and error what people like and what works in this area. The family atmosphere is palpable and makes guests feel as though they were personally invited to dinner. Each photograph on the walls at Kingfish Café is a family member, telling more about the tradition of cooking and the family itself. If there is one word to sum up the dining experience at the Kingfish Café it is soulful.

Rays Boathouse

Rays Boathouse is known for its fresh catch of the day. Rather than just picking good fish to serve Rays Boathouse focuses on sustainable northwest seafood paired perfectly with artesian cheeses, local produce and meat. The menu changes weekly as the local harvesters work thorugh the old crop and into the new. The wine list is almost too large with a shocking 700 wines, most of them from the northwest, so feel free to ask the waitstaff for any suggestions they may have. Although the food is great and the wine list extensive, the best part about Rays Boathouse is the incredible views of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound. Ask for a window seat so you can soak up everything that is great about this restaurant.

Canlis Restaurant

Canlis Restaurant has been a staple in the Seattle area for more than 50 years and for good reason, it seems to have everything right, from the beautiful scenic location to perfectly selected ingredients. Owner Peter Canlis give deep thought to every aspect of this restaurant, making sure to take great care in giving guests a view of the downtown action as well as the kitchen. Food is served team-style meaning you’ll get as much attention as you need. Canlis is credited with being one of the founders of Northwest cuisine so it’s almost a must for tourists coming to get a taste of the region. Be forewarned, a strict dress code is enforced, so come dressed in your best.

Metropolitan Grill

The Metropolitan Grill in Seattle is simply referred to as The Met by locals and has achieved a status that is unique to the area. This popular steakhouse puts quality first in everything it does. From the 1903 historic locale to the prime cuts of meat, from beginning to end this is bound to be an incredible experience. Steaks are of the finest cuts and seared over imported mesquite charcoal. To compliment your steak, the wine list is award winning and features a variety of beverages with an emphasis on Cabernets, Merlots and Meritage. The Metropolitan Grill is a Seattle staple and popular with everyone.

Wild Ginger Restaurant

Wild Ginger

Wild Ginger is an Asian restaurant that has found favor among the locals and the tourists for its light airy atmosphere and authentic Pacific Rim concoctions. The best flavors are artfully combined to create signature dishes that delight everyone from first time visitors to jaded food critics. And the best part about Wild Ginger is the food is exquisite without being overpriced.

Assaggio Ristorante

Oozing Italian charm and atmosphere, Assaggio Ristorante is welcoming and friendly to all who come through the doors. The menu is a combination of bold and robust flavors from the central and northern parts of Italy. Chef Mauro Golmarvi had more than 25 years experience before he decided to open Assaggio Ristorante in 1993, working now as the owner he had a bit to add to every aspect of the operation. As an Italian native, Chef Golmarvi’s main goal is to bring high quality, authentic Italian cuisine to the local table. He regularly shops Pike Place Market to hand pick the freshest ingredients and imports many of his wines directly from Italy. A delightful restaurant for anyone who craves traditional Italian food.

El Gaucho

At El Gaucho steaks are still on the menu as this steakhouse has found its trendy audience through the opulent design and attention to details. But don’t be swayed to stay away because you’ve had your fill of steakhouses, the seafood served at El Gaucho is equally delightful and the quiet atmosphere makes it the perfect place to sit back and relax after a hectic day at the office or sightseeing. The wine list has received mention and accolades from Wine Spectator so be sure to find an appropriate pairing for your meal.

Chez Shea

Chez Shea has been dubbed the most intimate restaurant in the city, so if you’re looking for a great meal experience for two then tuck yourselves in at Chez Shea for a romantic evening like no other. The French restaurant has followed the local trend of filling the menu with local ingredients and only the freshest fare around. This means the menu is always changing but it always has its signature French flair. The Chef Tasting Menu is a delightful way to explore the menu with seven courses that span its entire breadth. If you’re not willing to indulge that much, consider the four course tasting menu which still gives you a great feel for everything Chez Shea has to offer.

Champagne

Champagne is considered one of the city’s best restaurants with its focus on fresh and French. Another restaurant that knows the value of local produce plucked at the peak of perfection, Champagne works wonders with the region’s incredible growing environment. The southern French influence gives a richness that these prime ingredients deserve. To get the most of your experience the prix-fixe five course menu lets you sample different aspects of the well appointed menu.

Whether you’re traveling to Los Angeles or a local the following guide is a useful way to pick from the best fine dining establishments in the city and ensure you’ll get a great dining experience.

Providence

Providence’s two star Michelin rating in 2009 proves that this restaurant provides delightful cuisine that is a hit with patrons time and time again. Taking its cues from the sea, Providence brings some of the world’s premium wild seafood and shellfish to the table with simplicity and grace that lets individual ingredients shine though in each bite. Co-owners Donato Porto and Executive Chef Michael Cimarusti agree that this is the best way to present fresh seafood to their guests.

Nine Thirty

Nine Thirty has won its share of critical acclaim and is another one of the uber trendy restaurants that is touting the fresh is best motto. Their approach is an upscale version of from farm to table with a seasonal emphasis on American cuisine. Nine Thirty is housed in the W Hotel in Westwood and the menu is chock full of local ingredients with information on the farm that each item was raised or grown at. The menu changes nightly so be prepared to find a new favorite at every visit. For more fun into the night, Rande Gerber’s Whiskey Blue nightclub wraps around Nine Thirty providing you an easy and instant evening full of excitement.

Grace Restaurant

At Grace Restaurant Chef Neal Fraser specializes in new American cuisine with an emphasis on usual sauces and eye catching, palate pleasing side dishes. The meals routinely deliver superb and quality fare that suits any fine dining situation. Grace creates special menus for holidays, wine maker dinners and benefits. They also host a variety of special events throughout the year which provide even more opportunities to experiment with their taste profile and give yourself a little treat.

Traxx Restaurant

Located in the Union Station, Traxx Restaurant is both beautiful and remarkably tasty. The building is a combination of Spanish colonial, art deco, and modern architecture that is uniquely Californian. The food is touched with a unique sort of style that seems completely Californian as well, but is probably more influenced by Head Chef and Owner Tara Thomas. Traxx has become a staple in the area and has been a steady crowd pleaser since 1997. This is a great experience for visitors as you get a combination of wonderful fine dining and a taste of local history.

Water Grill

Water Grill received rave reviews by Zagat Guide who said Water Grill has the best seafood in southern California. With freshness, quality and an attention to preparation like no one else it’s not surprising that this restaurant shot up to the top of the critics list almost the minute it opened. Chef David LeFevre works his presentations with a touch of cosmopolitan grace that adds a bit of worldly panache to the plate. The accolades for Water Grill are many and it’s quickly easy to understand why this restaurant is a hit with diners.

Rivera

Rivera sets lofty goals for itself, the celebration of the story and spirit of the Latin culture around the world in food and drink. The restaurant focuses on Latin inspired cuisine from the past, the present and quite possibly the future. But what really makes Rivera unique is the combination of Latin food and French cooking techniques. In addition to delightful cuisine with just the right amount of seasoning to make the ingredients sing, Rivera has a fine wine list with most of the participants coming from Spain, Portugal, and South America. But go a little light on the wine as you’ll want to make a trip to the tequila tasting bar and enjoy a shot of tequila like you’ve never had before.

Vincenti Ristorante

Vincenti Ristorante is a fine dining establishment that feels somewhat familiar and more welcoming than traditional stuffing fine dining establishments. The modern looking room takes advantage of Scandinavian woods and red and purple hues to set the stage for Master Chef Nicola Mastronardi’s creations. The chef works behind a thick glass wall so every patron can watch his mastery of the craft. The ingredients are either imported directly from Italy or collected from local organic producers. Don’t be swayed by the casual comfort of the restaurant or the jeans clad clientele who sometimes make an appearance, Vincenti Ristorante is truly a fine dining restaurant with meals that can compete with some of the best in the country.

Noe Restaurant & Bar

Noe Restaurant & Bar features cuisine that has been labeled progressive American, which really means that there is a touch of Japanese and French inspired fusion married with American fare. Located in the Omni Hotel in downtown, Noe features two different private dining areas and an outside patio where you can take advantage of the beautiful weather and the exciting skyline. Executive Chef Glen Ishii changes the menu frequently as he works his meals around the changing harvests and whatever fresh foods are available. There is an usual amount of focus paid to the textural quality of the food at Noe which is remarkably pleasing to most guests. To be the most out of your visit, if you’re in town in the summer months, enjoy the six or nine course tasting menu or the patio version, a three course tasting menu. If you really, really want to try everything this restaurant has to offer then dig in for the 21 course tasting menu.

Please note that while we do our best to list some of the best fine dining restaurants in Los Angeles we can’t guarantee that the restaurants on our list will be the most popular or trendiest stops in town as L.A. is so fickle that the trends change by the minute. If you’re looking to find a star or two your best bet is to scour the industry trade magazines to see where they stars have recently been spotted. But if you’re looking for a great fine dining experience then stick with the tried and trusted restaurants that have lasted and proven themselves to be leaders in their field.

When people think of fine dining in the United States they typically think of New York and LA and sometimes Las Vegas but if you split the difference and head to Chicago you’ll probably get one of the best meals of your life. Chicago is actually a Mecca for fine dining and top chefs, so much so that the 2008 season of Bravo’s Top Chef was filmed in the Windy City.

Charlie Trotters
Charlie Trotters probably put Chicago on the map when it comes to fine dining in fact it’s been claimed that Charlie Trotters is one of the best restaurants in the entire country. Luckily the restaurant hasn’t let this acclaim go to its head and it continuously updates and amends its menu to thrill newcomers as well as regulars. With more than 20 years under its belt, Charlie Trotters has earned its reputation as one of the best in the business and will not doubt continue its reign as one of Chicago’s best fine dining establishments.

Sixteen

Donald Trump has been known to brag a bit but it may actually be true that his restaurant, Sixteen, is one of the best in the city. Sixteen is located on the 16th floor of Trump’s relatively new International Hotel & Tower and has some of the best views of the city. The food is described as novel and eclectic and has won accolades since its opening day. The addition of Australian Chef Frank Brunacci took the already buzz-worthy food up a notch and turned into world class fare with international flair.

Avenues

Avenues is another well respected restaurant tucked inside a hotel. The Peninsula Chicago features more than wonderful views and incredible suites, it also features Avenues a restaurant that had jumped into the local ingredient craze with both feet. The cuisine is contemporary and the open kitchen creates a buzzing atmosphere that is lively and infused with energy. In 2008 one of the city’s most noted chefs, Chef de Cuisine Curtis Duffy, moved from the acclaimed Alinea to Avenues, prompting Avenues meteoric rise in popularity.

Alinea
And speaking of Alinea, even after losing Chef Curtis Duffy, this restaurant keeps making Chicagoans happy and bring its share of raves to the reviews. Part of this is head chef and owner, Grant Achatz who is a true master of ingredients and an artist of presentation. Part of Alinea’s success is that it’s still considered one of the hip and trendy happening hot spots in Chicago. One of the reasons Alinea has earned such a great reputation is its 24-course tasting menu. If you have about five or six hours to spare then settle in and get a taste of just about everything this American fine dining restaurant has to offer, but be prepared to spend a considerable chunk of money on this journey through the Alinea menu.

NoMI

Set on the Miracle Mile, high in the sky, NoMI is class times ten and visitors better be dressed to the nines. The posh dining room is very contemporary and dotted with fine artwork including Chihuly chandeliers. You’ll be greeted by a small sushi bar at the entrance but only the lucky few will get one of these seats. Further inside the restaurant are contemporary dishes that take the best culinary ideas from around the world to create mind numbing and mouth pleasing concoctions.

Blackbird

Sleek, minimalistic and sort of space agey, Blackbird doesn’t focus on décor or atmosphere but turns its attention fully to the food at hand. Another restaurant with its attention turned to the seasonal produce from regional growers, Blackbird succeeds because it’s been deemed hip and trendy. Meaning that this tiny restaurant is small, seats few, packs up quickly and leaves guests happy that they made the stop.

Spiaggia

Spiaggia knows how to hit the high notes with its views by taking full advantage of the soaring 40 foot windows facing beautiful Lake Michigan. With most restaurants taking full advantage of the local food craze you can be rest assured that the ingredients are fresh at almost every new and trendy restaurant in Chicago, but what you can’t always be sure of is the medley of these flavors and the attention to detail. But at Spiaggia you know you’ve got it all wrapped up in one package. Spiaggia and Chef Tony Mantuano bring some of the best Italian cuisine to Chicago so if this is what you’re craving then look no further.

Room 21/Via Ventuno

It’s got to be cool if the name is a number or has a number in it, right? Well Room 21 is Chicago’s played the number game quite well but then decided to get out of the racket and the restaurant was reconditioned and became Via Ventuno, although many locals will still refer to it as Room 21. This is a must-stop for tourists because of the famed location. This region of Chicago was developed during the Columbian Exposition of 1893 and alcohol, prostitution and crime soon took hold of this part of the city, some of the most famous criminals in American history strolled these streets and Via Ventura was once one of Al Capone’s famous and illegal breweries, raided by Elliot Ness in 1930. The highlight of your visit is the secret Al Capone escape tunnel which is open for visitors to tour. The cuisine at Via Ventuno is Italian and completely enjoyable, but it’s the history and legend that makes this a must-see stop for tourists.

Topolobampo

Topolobampo sets Mexican food on a higher plain that it’s used to, this fine dining establishment shares a building with Frontera and both are headed by Chef Rick Bayless, host of MEXICO – One Plate at a Time on PBS. It’s Bayless’s winning personality and incredible skill with food that has turned both restaurants into local favorites. Topolobampo is a more posh environment and turns fine dining into a spicy affair. But the real genius that Topolobampo brings to the table is its ability to take regional ingredients from the Midwest and transform them into Mexican delights.

Cleveland has a lot to offer its visitors from sports arenas to its multiple museums, its noted festivals and its International Film Festival to the most famous attraction in the city, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. But one thing Cleveland is not really noted for is its great restaurants, which is too bad because the city is literally brimming with culinary delights.

Flying Fig

The Flying Fig is a Cleveland treat. This small restaurant is quaint and unassuming but the meals are grand and explosively delicious. The cuisine is wine-oriented and the ingredients are only the finest available and as often as possible locally grown. Chef Karen Small was actually one of the first in Cleveland to take note of the locally grown food trend and bring that concept to her eatery. If you’re headed to the Flying Fig make sure to take the wine suggestions to heart and definitely leave room for dessert as they’re all made in house, even the ice cream.

Felice Urban Café

Felice Urban Café is led by Chef Ricardo Sandoval who also owns and runs local favorites Lava Lounge and Fat Cats. A converted craftsman style home is the setting and the service follows the homey atmosphere, making you feel welcome and comfortable. The food has a predictable Spanish flare that doesn’t disappoint. Felice is a place where you’ll want to relax and spend some time, so order the bottle of wine because they’re more than happy to have you even after the dessert course is through.

Lola

Famed chef Michael Symon owns Lola and its twin restaurant Lolita. Lola brings a sexy and sophisticated atmosphere to the party as it sits smack dab in the center of a happening nightlife district. Taking a cue from the lively atmosphere outside, Lola brings an excitement to the dining experience as evidenced by one of their most popular dishes, French toast with maple bacon ice cream. With an Iron Chef at the helm you know that every dish is near perfection but unfortunately the complaints seem to lie with the wait staff and not the food. So go to Lola to expecting to experience delightful food and not so delightful service.

Bodega

Two words describe Bodega, hip and happening. This trendy eatery is tucked into the Cleveland Heights’ Coventry neighborhood, a welcome addition and popular place to wile away the time. Bodega features three distinct spaces for dining, the traditional dining area, a sleek bar, or the laid back lounge. Although full sized meals are available, gather your friends and order a slew of tapas instead. The tapas give you a great taste of everything this wonderful restaurant has to offer and if there’s any waiting in between you have time to enjoy some cocktails. If you do decide to order entrees, be prepared, you’ll be swapping tastes anyway.

Tartine Bistro

Located in the Shoppes of Old River road in Rocky River, Tartine Bistro actually seems to sweep you back in time or to a quaint European café. The market based neighborhood with its cobblestone streets helps lend authenticity and an air of Europe to the Bistro but the atmosphere in the restaurant and its delightful menu pushes the bar just a little bit higher. Local ingredients are featured whenever possible and nothing is fried, healthy and delicious no matter how you slice it. A tartine is a French open faced sandwich, similar to a little pizza and this restaurant knows how to deliver tartine’s that make it worthy of adopting the name. If you’re looking for a relaxing and slightly romantic way to spend the evening then a few hours in the shops and Tartine Bistro should do the trick.

Americano

Americano occupies the northern half of the first floor of One Bratenahl Place. The mid-century French dining room is formal yet inviting, with spacious table placements, period mirrors, and original artwork.

In this case, Americano does not mean hamburgers and French fries, instead it refers to the small cup of espresso that was designed to be a little milder for the American palate, thus the Americano. This restaurant was the brainchild of a European chef and an American vintner who wanted to sift some European based classics through an American cheesecloth and see what came out on the other end. And what resulted is a delightful mix of European cuisine with an American flare. The menu changes with regular frequency but always has a fair mix of food so there is something for everyone. Stay to enjoy the dessert, you won’t be sorry.

Mallorca

With all the vibrance and electricity of Spain and Portugal, Mallorca delivers culinary delights to its patrons and keeps the drinks flowing. Mallorca’s highlights include their incredibly fresh seafood dusted with Spanish and Portuguese spices and some English translations of authentic Spanish dishes that bring a new twist to old favorites. Be warned you will leave Mallorca feeling very full and satisfied, so save this stop for the last one of the night.

Chez Francois

Rather than just relying on local ingredients, Chez Francois believes in gathering all of the best food sourced from the finest farms and purveyors in the country and then expertly combining it to make pleasantly pleasing gastronomical delights. Chez Francois has been in business for more than 20 years and refuses to see itself as hip, but hip is exactly what this restaurant may be. As people educate their palates and discover what true fine dining is they keep coming back to Chez Francois for more. Is there anything more hip than standing the test of time and proving excellent food and service to your clientele? In addition it must be mentioned that the incredible setting with beautiful river views simply can’t be beat.

Pier W

And what would a list of hot Cleveland restaurants be without including one of the most popular dining trends today, steakhouses? So our choice for top steakhouse, is not really a steakhouse. In a town that features many beef-centric restaurants, is Pier W. Selected as much for its culinary offerings as for its stunning location and incomparable view. Pier W rests atop a cliff with sweeping views of Lake Erie. And has long been noted for its incredibly fresh seafood selections, but its little secret are the few steak options on the menu. To take advantage of everything Pier W has to offer, order the surf and turf and delight in the excellent combination of the two specialties of this delightful restaurant.

For people visiting the Philadelphia area you’ll be rather surprised that some of the best dining is actually causal dining. This is something that’s well known by the locals, and although the fine dining options in Philadelphia are many and quite good the casual dining options actually offer more bang for your buck.

For people visiting the Philadelphia area you’ll be rather surprised that some of the best dining is actually causal dining. This is something that’s well known by the locals, and although the fine dining options in Philadelphia are many and quite good the casual dining options actually offer more bang for your buck.

August

August BYOB is one of many restaurants in Philadelphia that works under the local law that allows patrons to bring in their own bottle (or alcoholic drink) so the restaurant doesn’t have to pay a high fee for carrying alcohol and the patron actually gets a discount too as restaurants often charge a premium for alcohol served on premises. Currently there are more than 200 restaurants who have opted for the BYOB classification. With that in mind, plan your drinks accordingly.

August is fusion Italian, which means that its soul is Italian but there are a lot of other influences that affect the ingredients, preparation, and the flavor. Basically it’s Italian with an American twist. The food at August is sure to delight and fill an empty stomach at the same time. For a casual restaurant, August is unexpectedly romantic and a great place for a couple to relax after a day of tourist activities.

Horizons

Horizons is actually an interesting combination of restaurants rolled into one, the upstairs is more formal in that its an intimate, romantic place to dine while the lower level is more causal and has the atmosphere of a bistro. But the food on both levels is incredible. The cuisine is touted as Tropical with a Mediterranean World Influence. This basically means it’s a little bit of everything with more than a hint of Mediterranean flavor. Their latest foray is into the vegan world where they expertly incorporate their established culinary touch with products that are not animal based. But remember, if you’re looking to stay casual then ask for seating in the bar area.

211 York

211 York is a bistro style restaurant that believes in brining fine dining cuisine to people in a comfortable and casual environment. 211 York doesn’t like to classify its cuisine except to say that it’s just like America and influenced by just about every culture around the world. The food at 211 York has been a local favorite since the restaurant opened in 1999 and it’s easy to understand why when have your first taste. But save a little room for dessert as these treats are actually prepared by the chef himself, something rare in most restaurants today.

Eulogy Belgian Tavern

Definitely casual, Eulogy Belgian Tavern is a bit more exciting than laid back and it’s conveniently located within walking distance of both Independence Hall and the riverfront. Tucked into an historic row house, this two story beer heaven features Philadelphia’s largest beer selection with more than 300 international and domestic beers and 21 draughts. A testament to their name, La Binchoise Brewery in Belgium creates Eulogy’s Busty Blonde exclusively for the restaurant. The restaurant features food that is both American and Belgian inspired and beers are often on the ingredient list. If you love beer, you’ll love Eulogy Belgian Tavern.

Chloe

Chloe is another entrant into the BYOB category, so plan accordingly. This Old City staple doesn’t accept reservations so you may have to wait as this restaurant is quite popular. The décor is a bit cluttered and fussy, but it’s still comfortable and screams neighborhood bistro. The cuisine is considered new American but features a lot of twists with Mediterranean influences and is always noteworthy. The atmosphere is on the dressier side of casual but welcoming.

Upstares & Sotto Varalli

Upstares & Sotto Varalli has been a Philadelphia staple since 1989 and features two different restaurants on two different floors. The first floor is referred to as Sotto and features an unusual décor which includes a giant squid and artwork by many local artists. The main draw to both restaurants are the floor to ceiling windows which give you incredible views of the passing crowds from Sotto. From Upstares’ location upstairs, the view is the beautiful skyline of the Avenue of the Arts, one that is said to inspire stares, and thus the pun in the spelling of the name. Both restaurants feature cuisine that is considered gourmet Italian seafood with hints of Mediterranean. Either restaurant is sure to delight with a comfortable casual atmosphere and wonderful selection of fresh seafood selections.

Lolita

The BYOB Lolita recommends you bring your own tequila to the restaurant and the bar staff will be more than happy to mix up one of their famous margaritas for you. Lolita is located in the Center City area and is one of the businesses credited for the revitalization of this area. The food is upscale Mexican and a wonderful departure from the traditional taco and burrito. The atmosphere at Lolita is boisterous and energetic and this makes it a popular establishment among the locals. A wait is not uncommon so it really would behoove you to take them up on their margarita offer while you wait to get a seat.

London Grill

London Grill is a wonderful place to go for casual dining as the cuisine isn’t casual at all, its one of the best upscale menus around and the prices are a little high for casual dining but the atmosphere is definitely welcoming and casual. London Grill is another one of those restaurants that aspires to take advantage of everything the local harvest has to offer and prides itself on their selection of local and fresh ingredients. The bar is also very welcoming and a great place to hang out before and/or after your meal.

The advents of the BYOB in Philadelphia inspired many local chefs to open bistro style restaurants which featured fresh local ingredients and exquisite cuisine is a relaxed casual atmosphere. Over the years the best of these restaurants rose to the top while the lesser restaurants faded into the past. This culling of the dining scene has left Philadelphia with a unique situation where you are almost guaranteed an exceptional dining experience in one of the many local casual restaurants.

There are a lot of great reasons to visit Cleveland and most of them will keep you hopping and cost a bit of cash. So if you’re thinking about dinner and want to skip the fast food and avoid the overpriced fine dining options, try these casual dining restaurants in Cleveland for a good meal that you can sit down and enjoy without worrying about breaking the bank.

Hard Rock Café

Nothing new here, Hard Rock Café is as good in Cleveland as it is anywhere else, the difference is you’re in a rock and roll city. Cleveland is the home of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame and so taking in the Hall of Fame and then heading to the Hard Rock Café seems like the perfect way to continue a theme day. The Hard Rock is located in the heart of the downtown area so it’s convenient to a lot of attractions including Progressive Field and The Q.

Wine Bar Rocky River

At Wine Bar Rocky River you’ll get a classy atmosphere with a beautiful patio so you can continue to enjoy the good weather (if you get it) while you’re visiting Cleveland. This is a bit on the nicer end of casual dining but entrees are not too pricey and you can still get a burger, albeit a fancy burger. This really is the spot for a couple to go for a romantic meal that won’t break the bank, especially if the weather is nice and you can enjoy the patio seating.

Shuhei

If its sushi you want the Shuhei is your best bet in Cleveland for great sushi at casual dining prices. The food is always good at the and fresh and there is a large variety of Asian dishes that do not have raw fish for those who are a little squeamish. For the non-squeamish who love a little uni it’s a true delight.

Hoggy’s

Hoggy’s is a favorite across the state of Ohio simply because they make the best BBQ around. There is absolutely nothing about a good old fashioned BBQ joint that says fine dining and Hoggy’s fits that bill. Come with an empty stomach and a love for quality, homemade BBQ food and you’ll be more than happy that you turned to Hoggy’s. There are several locations in the Cleveland area so no matter where you are there’s one fairly nearby.

Mama Santa’s Restaurant & Pizzeria

Mama Santa’s Restaurant & Pizzeria is located in Cleveland’s Little Italy and provides a great stop on a trip through this part of town. There are lots of artists located in the region so the galleries and little local shops create an interesting diversion. But it’s Mama Santa’s pizza that’s the highlight. The décor is exactly what you’d expect from a mom and pop pizzeria but the food is out of this world. Don’t load up on the tempting pastries in Little Italy before dinner because you’ll want to eat all of your pizza and you’ll definitely leave full.

Cornerstone Brewing Company

Cornerstone Brewing Company knows what its doing when it comes to beer but they also know how to put together a pretty good plate of food as well. Sometimes all you want to do on vacation is kick back and enjoy a beer and some good comfort food and the Cornerstone Brewing Company is a great place to do that. This bar is popular among the locals so expect to meet quite a crowd during peak hours.

Shooters on the Water

Shooters on the Water is another local favorite because of the casual atmosphere and the waterfront location. The food at Shooters isn’t known as the best in culinary delights, but it is known for its incredible atmosphere. So if that’s what you’re looking for and fun is more important than the menu then Shooters is really worth more than just a quick stop.

Melt Bar & Grilled

If you’re traveling with children then Melt Bar & Grilled is a must stop on your vacation. Their specialty – grilled cheese sandwiches. Really. They specialize in grilled cheese sandwiches made a whole bunch of different ways. They also have salads, burgers, steaks, soups and beer. But if you’re going to the Melt then you should dig in and have a grilled cheese sandwich.

Sweet Melissa’s

Who says healthy food has to be expensive? Sweet Melissa’s offers travelers a break from the fast food and burger on the run menu and invites them to sit down and enjoy some healthy fare for a change. Sweet Melissa’s prides itself on using the freshest ingredients possible with many organic options when available. The décor is earthy meets trendy (which is a little redundant these days) and there are carry out options if you want to bring something back to your hotel room.

Somer’s Diner

Part old fashioned diner, and part new age fresh food concept, Somer’s Diner is perfect for families who are looking for a healthy alternative and great atmosphere. Somer’s features comfort food with healthy ingredients in a kitschy diner atmosphere. In addition, you may run into local politicians, celebrities, and sports stars as this is a favorite locale for everyone in the area.

Tommy’s

Tommy’s Restaurant is currently the golden child of Cleveland, garnering award after award. So why all the hoopla? Well it’s actually nothing new at Tommy’s. With its meager beginning in 1972 as a soda fountain, Tommy’s earned its first award by bringing in the Best Milkshake East of the Mississippi. Since then the restaurant has grown but the quality has stayed the same. Now Tommy’s is much bigger and has gone healthier with filtered water, non-hydrogenated oil, soups made from scratch, and each meal can be tailored to handle every type of dietary restriction there is.

The above restaurants offer great, safe casual dining options for restaurant goers in the Cleveland area. Pick one or several from the list and sit down, enjoy a real, quality made meal and be confident that you’re not spending more than you should.

Taking the family Baltimore is a great idea, there is so much to see and explore that is both fun and educational. Founded in 1729 Baltimore’s harbor has always been a hotbed of activity, shifting away from the shipping port, the harbor now attracts tourists looking for an exciting experience laced with American history and fun.

One of the major problems with traveling your family is finding a restaurant that’s not only suitable for children but welcoming as well. There’s always McDonalds but who wants to spend an entire vacation dining with Ronald. Baltimore has several options for family dining that are unique, welcoming and a healthy alternative to fast food. Use our guide for family dining in Baltimore so your entire experience is an enjoyable one.

Bo Brooks Restaurant & Catering

Located right in the harbor, Bo Brooks Restaurant and Catering has been serving seafood since it was originally founded in 1964. In the beginning Bo Brooks was one of the only crab houses at the time so with its incredible steamed crab it quickly became a local hotspot and popular destination. If you’re visiting the Baltimore Harbor and really hankering for a taste of the sea then Bo Brooks is an excellent place to bring your kids with their excellent adult menu and kid tested children’s menu. Their fun atmosphere is never pretentious and the views of the harbor keep things light and casual. Reservations are only taken for 50% of the restaurant so if you want to make sure you get a table you can call ahead but if you’re a walk-in you’re still likely to find a spot for everyone.

Kosher Bite

Kosher Bite is a unique experience for a family as it gives you and the kids a chance to break out of the rut of burgers and pizza and try something totally different. For more than 20 years Kosher Bite has been serving diners in the Baltimore area. Their huge menu features a plethora of cuisine including American, Israeli, Szechwan, Russian and even sushi. In addition to being a great kosher alternative, there is simply so much to choose from that you can suit everybody’s cravings, even fussy children.

Rainforest Café

Sure it’s a chain, but the Rainforest Café is a great place to take children, no matter what city you’re in. They jungle theme is fun for everyone in the family and the food is designed to be family friendly fare and healthy at the same time. In fact, the kid’s menu has been revamped lately and the food is even more exciting, including the Volcano dessert which literally lights up a meal and can be the inspiration to get little ones to plow through the healthy food. If you’ve never been to a Rainforest Café you’ll love the way they cater to children and your kids will love the themed restaurant. If you’ve been then you know how much fun you will have and how entertained your children will be.

Papermoon Diner

The Papermoon Diner is a must for families visiting the Baltimore area. A self described eccentric Technicolor version of a diner, the Papermoon takes traditional fare and pumps it up a notch by adding incredible ingredients that can only make the comfort foods you love even tastier. One of the best things about this restaurant are the hours, if you’re traveling you’re not always in your home time zone, but your kids have a schedule and it’s easier to keep them in their typical routine. The Papermoon Diner is open at 7 am and the last seating is midnight on weekdays and 2 am on weekends. With the walls and the ceilings plasters with toys it’s doubtful that you’ll ever find anyplace as exciting for your kids.

Red Brick Station White Marsh Brewing Company

Red Brick Station White Marsh Brewing Company is a great place for parents to unwind after a hectic day of family activities and sample a couple of the locally brewed ales. The Red Brick Station is also a great place for kids as the environment is casual and fun and there’s actually a kid’s menu so you get the things they love in the portions that are perfect sized. If the weather allows you can enjoy your brew and meal outside and let the kids tire themselves out a little bit more.

Hollywood Diner

The Hollywood Diner is an authentic diner Mountain View Diner built in 1954. Starting in Long Island, the Hollywood Diner moved to Baltimore in 1981 and became a movie star, appearing in several Barry Levinson films, including the ubiquitous Diner. One really great thing about the Hollywood Diner is that by eating in their establishment you’re not only giving your kids a good dining experience, you’re helping out the youth of Maryland. The Hollywood Diner is owned by the Chesapeake Center for Youth Development and the employees are youngsters looking to make changes in their lives by attending school and learning vocational skills that will help them in the future. Can you get a dining experience better than that, you’re eating in a family friendly atmosphere that’s been featured in major motion pictures and you’re helping young adults develop a better future for themselves.

Jeepers

And quite possibly the best family dining restaurant in all of Baltimore, at least as far as the kids are concerned, is Jeepers. Jeepers is an indoor amusement park that is totally focused on entertaining your kids. In addition to the great roller coaster, Jeepers has arcade games, amusement rides, and a soft play area. The food at Jeepers is probably what you’d expect for an amusement park, lots of fried choices and the standard hot dog and pizza options, but who cares because there is no restaurant that is more inviting and exciting for your kids than Jeepers. If you’re going sightseeing in the Baltimore area you may want to save Jeepers for a rainy day or as incentive for your kids to tag along on the more educational experiences.

Baltimore is the perfect city for a family vacation as it’s loaded with sights that are historical, educational, and entertaining for the entire family. And in addition to its tourist attractions, the city is happy to welcome families and give them a plenty of dining options.

As the capital and largest city in Massachusetts, Boston is considered the economic and cultural center of the region. Being one of the oldest cities in the United States further boosts the appeal of this anchor city. As one of the most popular and populous cities in the New England region Boston knows how to feed its people. A dining experience in Boston is bound to be something you won’t soon forget and one which you’ll be raving about to your friends. If you’re looking to hit some of the best fine dining restaurants in Boston use the following guide to get the gastronomical experience of a lifetime.

Bonfire

In the heart of downtown Boston is Bonfire, a restaurant that is sure to light the fires of your heart with its rich and rustic interior and absolutely splendid cuisine. This Todd English concoction is headed by Executive Chef Robert Bean, a Massachusetts native, who began learning the Todd English way with food back in 2004 at Olives Las Vegas in the Bellagio hotel. Bean knows how to put on a show at Bonfire with a firewall that runs across the back wall and an impressive taqueria behind the bar. Bonfire is English’s first steakhouse in Boston and features American style cuisine with just the right touch of European influences. Make sure you come hungry as you’ll want to sample some of the gourmet tacos and empanadas before digging into your generous steak.

Gargoyles on the Square

Gargoyles on the Square is a crowd pleaser and an award winning bistro that was able to transform gracefully from a local neighborhood restaurant into one of Boston’s top fine dining restaurants. Gargoyles prides itself on providing its customers with some of the best modern American cuisine around without subjecting them to the high prices that some of their competition charges. If you’d like to experience Gargoyles on the Square but you’re intent on cutting corners financially, head to the bar where you can order from the limited menu which is full of inexpensive delightful goodies.

Locke-Ober Tavern

For fine dining enthusiasts, Locke-Ober is oh so familiar and yet a completely unique experience. Keeping to its history as a turn of the century landmark in Boston, the restoration in 2001 kept many of the original features and simply boosted the appeal and intimacy of the restaurant. If there is a place to see and be seen in Boston, Locke-Ober is it, with its far reaching acclaim bringing folks in from near and far to experience their version of contemporary American cuisine.

Zebra’s Bistro and Wine Bar

Another Boston area bistro delight is Zebra’s Bistro and Wine Bar where classic comfort food it tweaked and twitched until its like nothing you’ve experienced before.

Top off a fantastic evening in Seattle by treating yourself to one of the city’s fine dining options. If you’re not from the Seattle area you’ll be delighted by the number and variety of fine dining options but there is also something to take note of, Seattle is becoming a very big foodie town and they’re doing this by taking regional and fresh produce to a new level. Make sure you take advantage of this trend and experience at least one meal made with fresh and locally grown or raised produce.

Canlis Restaurant

After more than 50 years, Canlis Restaurant is not only doing something right, it’s doing almost everything right. This Seattle staple is the brainchild of Peter Canlis who selected a beautiful scenic location with views of the downtown core for diners to gaze upon during their meal. The interior is punctuated by an architectural beauty of the stone fireplace and the angled windowed vista. The restaurant is exposed, giving guests a peek at the process while they wait. The food is truly fine and served team-style and Canlis is credited with being one of the founders of Northwest cuisine. It’s an excellent option for dining in the Seattle area, but be prepared to dress your best as there is an enforced dress code.

The Herbfarm

Belly up to everything that is wonderful about the Pacific Northwest at Herbfarm, it’s a complete and total celebration of food and wine in a nine course dinner with six matched wines. If it sounds decadent that’s because it truly is. There is a single serving so make sure you check when the dining begins on your selected night. If you’re interested, arrive about an hour early and you can get a pre-dinner tour of the wine cellar, or head out to the bocce ball court for a game. And single travelers or couples may opt to dine at the European Common Table and take the opportunity to share a mean with new friends. Although the food and drink is an exclamation point of Pacific Northwest goodness, the décor is not. The eclectic charm is enhanced by the collection of antiques and artifacts from around the world, turning your evening at The Herbfarm into a night to remember.

Volterra

Taking its inspiration from the Tuscan town, Volterra, this restaurant brings bold Italian flavors to Seattle by way of award-winning Chef Don Curtiss. The food is impeccable without being pretentious, a perfect touch of Tuscany in Seattle. If you just can’t decide what to have, give the “Little Bite” appetizer a try. Daily specials served in bite sized portions lets you nibble before you decide on an entire meal. A great romantic evening for a couple looking to experience an authentic Tuscan meal.

Wild Ginger

Almost 20 years ago this Asian restaurant set its roots in the Seattle soil and has quickly became one of the most brilliant blooms around. Wild Ginger is a favorite among locals and guests alike with its light airy atmosphere and authentic Pacific Rim recipes. Like a trip across the ocean, Wild Ginger brings you the best flavors in their signature dishes like the Fragrant Duck, Seven Flavor Beef, Ginger Martinis and Mango Daiquiris. The reviews for this restaurant are consistent reviews and come from foodies across the country. It’s fine dining fare with modest prices.

Chez Shea

Bon Appetit Magazine referred to Chez Shea as “perhaps the most intimate restaurant in the city”. So if its romance you’re looking for then the uber romantic contemporary French Chez Shea is what you need. The meals feature local seasonal fare but the menu changes regularly although you can always count on the contemporary French flair. If you’re a little adventurous, give the Chef Tasting Menu a try, you can go all in with seven courses or you can go with a lighter meal and only try four. If you’re not dressed for fine dining or simply want to give Chez Shea a try without committing to a meal, head next door to Shea’s Lounge Bistro where the atmosphere is still cozy and you’re welcome to order appetizers, entrees, and desserts.

Champagne

With an emphasis on fresh and French, Champagne is making foodies stand up and take notice. Local food is transformed into a delicacy that smacks of southern France and is best experienced by trying to prix-fixe five course menu. The entire experience smacks of elegance and refinement in pure and simple foods. Like Chez Shea, there is a less formal bar and dining area below in Champagne Café which offers a lunch menu as well as dinner selections.

The Oceanaire Seafood Room

And what is a trip to Seattle without some amazingly fresh seafood? The Oceanaire Seafood Room uses the glory of a 1930’s ocean liner as its decorating inspiration and the sea as its culinary inspiration. When the seafood isn’t local it’s flown in daily so you get the best possible selection of fresh fish on a daily printed menu. If you’re a fan of oysters, you’ll be delighted by the oyster bar that greets you as you walk in the door and even more excited by the chance to taste between 10 and 12 varieties of fresh oysters. It’s a nice themed atmosphere with brilliant food selections for the true seafood lover.

Rays Boathouse

Another noted restaurant that focuses on the fresh catch of the day, Rays Boathouse brings the best of Seattle to the table with sustainable Northwest seafood, artesian cheeses, local produce and meat. With a weekly changing menu, there is always something new and unexpected to taste, even to the most regular visitors. And adding to your dining experience, the wine list has a completely shocking selection of more than 700 wines with an emphasis on the Northwest variety. But Rays Boathouse isn’t just about the amazing food and wine, ask for a table by the window as the bayside view of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound is worth a visit in itself. A treat for so many of the senses all wrapped in one location.

With this list of fine dining selections it’s hard to narrow your choices because they all offer something incredibly delightful and local. The fresh food craze is really one of the most wonderful aspects of dining in Seattle, so in your selection process, look for a flavor or national flair that will go best with the fresh ingredients of the day.

When it comes to fine dining in Philadelphia you have plenty of tasty options to choose from. No matter what type of cuisine you are after it is safe to say that you will find a great restaurant in the City of Brotherly Love. Although many people don’t think of Philadelphia for its fine dining, but instead its cheese steaks, it does not mean that these restaurants don’t exist. A simple search will turn up plenty of fine dining restaurants that are not only popular in Philadelphia, but also well known all over the United States.

The following Philadelphia restaurants epitomize fine dining. If you are in the area and in need of a good meal within a great atmosphere you will want to check out these restaurants:

The Fountain Restaurant

Located in the Four Seasons Hotel at 1 Logan Square the Fountain Restaurant offers a great atmosphere in addition to rich food. The first thing you should know about this establishment is that it caters to upscale diners. If you are not in the mood for fine dining you will want to stay away from this restaurant. From the moment you walk into the Fountain Restaurant it is easy to see that this is a fine dining establishment. Not only does the wait staff treat you like a king but you will notice from the décor that it offers nothing but the best.

A large menu featuring everything from German to French cuisine makes it easy for every guest to find something that suits their taste buds. To go along with this, the Fountain Restaurant offers one of the most extensive wine lists in the city.

Despite high prices you will surely have a great time if you decide to visit the Fountain Restaurant for your next night out on the town.

Lacroix

Lacroix at the Rittenhouse Hotel offers great foods, a breathtaking atmosphere, and much more. Chef Matthew Levin is one of the best in the city, and this shows through in every bit of food on the menu. Speaking of the menu, diners can select from three, four or five dishes that are then divided into a high class four course meal. Of course, it is up to the diner to decide the order in which their food is served. Some of the more popular choices include lamb, tuna steak, and beef tenderloin.

Location is always important when it comes to an upscale restaurant, and Lacroix does not disappoint. With a table by the window you will able to look down on the Square from high in the sky. When you combine great views with top of the line food it is easy to see why Lacroix at the Rittenhouse Hotel has won so many awards over the years.

The above restaurants are three of the best in Philadelphia if you are interested in a fine dining experience.

Brasserie Perrier

Since opening in 1997, this restaurant by Chef Georges Perrier has been one of the best in the area. If you are interested in French cuisine this establishment is sure to suit your taste buds. And while the food is good and the wait staff every bit as impressive, it is important to note that the Brasserie Perrier offers a more laid back atmosphere as well as affordable prices.

In addition to the dining area, the restaurant also features a 65 seat bar that is perfect for get-togethers or a quick drink. No matter if you are interested in good food or meeting up with friends for a drink, stop by Brasserie Perrier at 1619 Walnut Street. You are sure to have the time of your life.

Ontario has carried many slogans and songs throughout it’s history. Many have originated to invite those living outside of their prosperous local, to visit. “Is There Any Other Place You’d Rather Be,” “Yours to Discover,” “Ontario Incredible,” and “There’s No Place Like This,” were meant, at least in part, as a calling for visitors. Ontario’s hospitality doesn’t end with it’s slogans, you’ll also find it in it’s entertainment and dining offerings.
