Delaware State Forest is, despite its name, a Pennsylvania State Forest that is located throughout the state’s Monroe and Pike counties. It was formed a direct result to the rapid depletion of Pennsylvania’s forests that began in the mid to late 1800s. The birth of Delaware State Forest was the event that gave rise to the entire state forest system for the United States.
