Chacaltaya is a Bolivian mountain range with an elevation of around 17,000 feet. Although it was once home to South America’s highest glacier, the glacier had been receeding since the 1970s and has completely disappeared as of 2009. It was also home to Chacaltaya’s only ski resort, but the range has now become popular among amateur mountain climbers.
