The Borgund stave church is located in Borgund, Norway, and it is known as the best-preserved example of Norway’s 28 extant stave churches. Built near the end of the 12th century, the church has undergone no major reconstructions or modifications since then. However, the church does show signs that a previous building, most likely another church or a pagan temple, stood on the same spot.
