While there are many Echo Lakes in the world, Maine’s Echo Lake has become one of the most popular freshwater recreation sites for locals and visitors to the area. Located on Mount Desert Island, Echo Lake offers a fascinating juxtaposition of the lake’s blue waters and the dramatic cliffs of Maine’s Beech Mountain. In the same visit to Echo Lake, one can lounge on the lake’s shore and go hiking on any of the hiking trails in the area.
