Lake Malaren is the third-largest lake in Sweden, located just west of Stockholm in the southeastern part of the country. The lake has long been a significant part of Sweden’s history, having earned the designation of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. The lake is home to several islands of varying significance, and many of these islands have been inhabited since the time of the Vikings.
