Cerro Fitz Roy, also known as Monte Fitz Roy, is a mountain located in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field near the village of El chalten. Located on the border between Argentina and Chile, Cerro Fitz Roy was first recorded in 1877 by Francisco Moreno and named after Robert FitzRoy, an explorer that had passed through Patagonia previously. Today, the area has become more accessible because of the development of El Chalten and the construction of an airport, allowing people from all over the world to enjoy the unusual mountain.
