Cape Hatteras is located on the coast of North Carolina and it is home to one of America’s most famous lighthouses. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in America, according to the National Park Service, and it is easily recognizable due to the barber-shop spiral decoration. While the original order for construction of the lighthouse came in 1797, various factors led the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse to require many more years before it was completed.
