Divers from around the world come to Maldives to get a glimpse of the sharks. Over 25 types of sharks can be found in the Maldives, including the whale shark, tiger shark and hammerhead shark. The whale shark, though not dangerous, is the largest living fish. The Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme (MWSRP) facilitates research and encourages conservation initiatives in the Maldives.
