Fakarava is an atoll located in French Polynesia. It has a wide and deep lagoon that is rich with marine life, including sharks. The island itself has been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve for preservation of rare species. Scuba diving and shark diving are popular in the area with many dive operators located near the island’s resorts.
