The Las Vegas Strip

People go to Las Vegas, Nevada for more reasons than can possibly be imagined. There are conventions held there for practically every industry under the sun. There are people who go primarily to enjoy the gambling and those who go primarily to see the shows. There are people who go there because it’s one of the easiest and least expensive places to get airplane tickets to from many other cities in the nation. And there are people who go there because it’s one of the easiest places to have a spur-of-the-moment wedding ceremony. But not matter what reason you might end up going to Las Vegas, it’s almost guaranteed that you are going to the city in search of a good time.

Those people who think that a good time includes checking out a city’s hot nightclubs will probably want to call and extend their Vegas vacation because there are just too many terrific clubs to choose from in this city. Each hotel casino on the Las Vegas Strip tries to outdo the others with a nightclub atmosphere that will win patrons staying at other accommodations. And as Vegas has grown in size, a number of impressive nightclubs have popped up off of the Vegas Strip which can hold their own in the competition for tourist attention.

Las Vegas Strip Nightclubs

The majority of the nightclubs that you’re going to want to visit in Las Vegas are located on The Strip. There are a few reasons for that. One is that this is where money has been invested to create clubs that go above-and-beyond. These are the clubs that have special effects, dancers, themes, multiple bars and big VIP sections. However, you might also want to go to these clubs specifically because they’re easy to get to and easy to get home from at the end of the night. Find one in your own hotel (they almost all have them) or head over to one of the nearby hot spots to dance the night away.

Here are some of the favorites that you might find appealing:

Pure Nightclub.

LAX @ Luxor. Sometimes Vegas gets a little bit tiring but you still don’t want to miss out on the fun. If that’s the case, this is the hotspot for you because it’s got a relaxing lounge-style vibe but it’s also a nightclub with a dance floor. It’s been known to have its fair share of celebrities stop in so you may want to foot the bill to get into the VIP section of this upscale club.
Pure @ Caesar’s Palace. This is what a Vegas Nightclub is supposed to be like. There’s a large main dance area where the DJs and dancers do their thing. Then there’s a smaller VIP room which is one of the few Vegas VIP rooms that’s actually private and set apart from the noise. And then there’s a terrace for you to enjoy as well so you get lots of different sides of Vegas in one space.

There aren’t too many chances that you’re going to get to go to a rum bar so if you like rum then you’ll probably want to take advantage of this place. But there are more reasons than that to go to this club. There are three floors of action, there’s unusual entertainment like aerial dancers and conga drum players and there are waterfalls and fire shows to keep things interesting.

Studio 54 @ MGM Grand. Named after the New York club where you had to beautiful or famous to gain entry, this Las Vegas hot spot is a popular place for people visiting the city. You probably won’t find too many famous people here but beauty can still be found in the two-story, multi-bar club where go-go boys and the average Joe dance around each other excitedly. It’s open Tuesday-Saturday and is popular every day of the week. Many people pay for the front-of-the-line pass to bypass the crowds which costs up to $40 depending on the day.
Tao @ The Venetian. It sounds very zen and relaxing but Tao is actually a lively nightclub loved by Vegas visitors. The visual effects here are designed with that Eastern influence in mind – think candles and coziness. However, it’s a huge space that is all urban when you get down to its core.

Off-the-Strip Nightclubs

There is no denying that there are great nightclubs on the Las Vegas Strip. You could easily spend an entire vacation there and not have any complaints about your good time. But there are also good reasons to check out some of the off-the-strip nightclubs. One of the best reasons is that they often don’t have the high cover prices and strict dress codes that you’ll find on the Strip. And another reason is because you’ll get a different vibe from the clubs that have a primarily local turnout.

Here are some of the local favorites for off-Strip Vegas nightclubs:

http://www.redrocklasvegas.com/entertainment/cherry_nightclub.php. This is one of the most popular resort casinos located off the Vegas Strip. It’s as hip and trendy as the places that can be found on and around the strip but it’s not quite as jam packed with travelers because of its location. All of the amenities, none of the annoyances.
Flex. Located about a ten-minute drive from the center of the Strip, this is one of the nightclubs that is popular with the Las Vegas gay clientele. Among other fun oddities, they host Dance Dance Rvolution competitions in the bar.
FreeZone. Vegas is all about glam and who does that scene better than the drag queens? Drag shows aren’t the only reason that people come to this gay/alternative nightclub that’s located just off of the Strip on Paradise road but there sure do provide good incentive for people seeking to be entertained. There’s also a bar and restaurant here for those people who want to dine before they dance.
Gipsy. This is a Las Vegas gay bar that is located just off of the strip on nearby Paradise Road. That means that it’s easy to get to but it has a different vibe than what you’re going to find on the strip. In terms of gay bars, it’s a standard place with good music and strong drinks. It is one of the longest-standing gay nightclubs in the city and has recently renovated to keep up with newer competition from bars popping up in the area.

The Palms Resort, home of Moon.

Moon. This is a great nightclub because it’s off-the-Strip (in the Palms Casino Resort) but it’s not super far away and it actually has a terrific Strip view. The DJs here typically play a combination of rock and hip-hop music so different dancers can enjoy the beats. It’s one of the clubs that’s open until the wee hours of the morning which makes it particularly popular.

Going to Vegas Nightclubs

Whether you go to one of the clubs on the Las Vegas Strip or one that’s more in the city, you’re going to want to remember a few basic things. Take enough money to pay any cover charges, buy your drinks and still get a cab home because there aren’t a lot of other transportation options besides taxis. Make sure that you know in advance if there is a dress code at the club that you’re going to because many have them and you can’t get in if you’re under dressed – although this tends to apply to weekend nights at clubs on The Strip more so than elsewhere. And you may want to remember that it’s not really true what they say about things happening in Vegas staying there so don’t forget that you’re on vacation from your city but not from your real life!
