A trip to Chicago takes you deep into the cosmos. Alder Planetarium is the only museum in the world with two full sized planetarium theaters.
The Sky Theater projects a clear night’s sky on the historic Zeiss screens. Travel through historic Egyptian skies and see the heavens through a pharaoh’s eyes with Egyptian Nights: Secrets of the Sky Gods or view Night Sky Live! and explore the breathtaking diversity that is our universe.
The StarRider Theater gives you a virtual reality experience in the world’s first all digital, 360-degree planetarium theater. The new Zula Patrol: Under the Weather show takes you through a fantasy world as the team tries to save the Solar System’s weather from villainous Dark Truder. Black Holes: The Other Side of Infinity explores the deepest, darkest depths of black holes with cutting edge technology and fantastic travels through space’s most elusive phenomena.
Adler Planetarium features many exhibits, but one of the most popular and stirring is the Shoot for the Moon display. Astronaut Jim Lovell narrates and highlights some of the most spectacular experiences he had while exploring space and traveling to the moon. Capping off the experience is the fully restored Gemini 12 spacecraft and Lovell’s own collection of personal artifacts.
Event pricing discounts are available by contacting the Adler Planetarium directly, or you can take advantage of Chicago’s CityPass and explore five Chicago attractions for one low price.
