Fall is a wonderful time to visit theme parks. The fact that the air is cooler, the traffic is down and the lines are shorter is a given. But what’s even neater about visiting parks in the fall is that many of them have fantastic Halloween-themed celebrations going on. And it’s a no-brainer that holiday celebrations equal big family fun.
Great America in Santa Clara, California boasts a super-fun Halloween hoopla with Nickelodeon characters called Nick-or-Treating. Kids can enjoy trick-or-treating with beloved Nick characters at five designated stations throughout the park’s Nickelodeon Central area. Who can they expect to see in their travels? Well, Spongebob Squarepants and Dora the Explorer, of course. Where else can your kids get the chance to scare their favorite characters all while scoring some great candy? According to Great America, nowhere else in Northern California.
For a chance to join in this fun and safe Nick-or-Treat experience, head to the park between noon and 4pm. Kids 12 and under are welcome and trick-or-treating is free with park admission.
While you’re there, catch the special Halloween version of the Nickelodeon Celebration Parade, which begins at 5 pm daily. The 30-minute parade features Halloween tunes, more than 20 Nickelodeon characters, seven floats (two of which feature Spongebob and Dora) and a cast of almost 100 performers. Kids 12 and under, wearing a costume, are encouraged to participate in the parade.
Nick-or-Treat runs on weekends from October 13 to the 28th.
