…and so do adults. The most visited attraction in the state of Maryland, the National Aquarium at Baltimore is located at the city’s Inner Harbor. Opened in 1981, the Aquarium was the foundation for that area’s redevelopment.
About the Baltimore Aquarium
The two-building Baltimore Aquarium complex draws more than 1.6 million visitors annually. The attraction houses more than 16,500 sea plants and animals of 660 species.
The Exhibits
Displays include a salt-water shark tank with turtles and stingray; a tank with fish native to Maryland; “Animal Planet: Australia,” a new exhibit, the 4D Immersion Show, and the dolphinarium, home to the popular live dolphin shows. The aquarium recommends that you allow at least 2 1/2 hours to adequately see all of the exhibits.
Visiting the Baltimore Aquarium
The Baltimore Aquarium opens at 9am daily. It closes from 5pm to 8pm depending on the day and the season. Admission is $28.95 for adults, $27.95 for those 60 and older, and $17.95 for children 3-11. Children under 3 are admitted free.
Facilities include a 5000-square foot gift shop and two restaurants. The Aquarium is wheelchair-accessible, but strollers are not permitted.
Several Inner Harbor hotels, including the Hyatt, offer Aquarium packages that include accommodations and admission tickets.
