Toronto Skyline

Toronto, the largest city in Canada and its economic and financial center, is a very international city. In fact, almost half of the city’s population was born outside of Canada. The diversity gives Toronto a very cosmopolitan flair. It was makes for some interesting shopping. Below are just a few of the best places to shop in Toronto.

Eaton Centre- Located on Yonge Street in the heart of downtown, Eaton Centre features three levels and more than 250 stores, a 12-screen movie theater, and an attached Marriott Hotel. The shopping complex, the city’s most popular tourist attraction, is also connected to Toronto’s subway system and downtown pedestrian network.

Bloor-Yorkville Neighborhood - Located north of downtown, near the University of Toronto, the Bloor-Yorkville neighborhood is known for its Victorian and brownstone houses, its art galleries, ethnic restaurants, and unique, one-of-a-kind stores.

Kensington Market - Located adjacent to the Bloor-Yorkville neighborhood, Kensington is one of Toronto’s oldest districts. Here, you’ll find an eclectic mixture of coffee houses, vintage clothing shops, organic grocers, and stores selling imported goods. What you won’t find is a Starbuck’s or a chain department store.

Hudson’s Bay Company - This is the company that helped settled most of Canada and parts of America in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It’s the oldest corporation in North America, founded in 1670, and it’s still going strong. HBC operates several retail chains, including “The Bay” stores, know for their Hudson’s Bay Blanket, an item they have sold for more than 200 years.
