There are a huge number of things to do on Vancouver Island in British Colombia, and while lots of them are great for summer vacations, it’s a great place to visit all year round. Some of the key attractions include:
- Visiting the Royal British Colombia Museum in Victoria – three galleries portray the history of British Colombia and there’s also the National Geographic IMAX theater.
- Strolling through the famous Butchart Gardens, with its 55 acres of flowers, fountains, streams and lawn.
- Looking at the Whale Centre Maritime Museum in Tofino, or going on a whale-watching cruise nearby.
- Discovering the historical roots of the areas First Nations by looking at the totem poles found in Thunderbird Park or in the town of Duncan.
- Getting to know llamas at one of the forty or so llama farms to be found on Vancouver Island.
- Relaxing in the natural hot springs at Hot Springs Cove or the Ahousat Hot Springs.
- Going fishing in either a fresh water or a salt water environment.
- Taking a tour around the Vancouver Island vineyards, which make up one of the fastest growing wine areas around.
- Looking for grizzly bears on a bear viewing tour, provided by many tour companies in combination with fishing or kayaking.
