Crystals at CityCenter

Crystals is slated to open in December 2009 and will feature a 500,000 square foot shopping mecca. The stores set to enter the mall are some of the largest designer brands in the world with stores that are equally large. To draw high end clientele to this luxury mall the design features unique architecture, cutting edge interior designs, noted artwork and soothing water features. Many of the retailers moving into Crystals will be opening their first Las Vegas locations so for high end designer items Crystals at CityCenter will be the place to visit.

Fashion Show

If you’re on the strip in Las Vegas then Fashion Show is impossible to miss. This 2 million square foot mall is host to more than 10 million visitors each year. Although the mall is huge it somehow is manageable with a layout that is comfortable for regular mall goers. Fashion Show gets its name from its Great Hall with its retractable runway that features fashion shows several days a week. The anchor stores are familiar but there are a lot of wonderfully unique boutiques as well. This can definitely be a full day event and its conveniently located in the middle of the strip.

Encore Esplanade

Between Encore Las Vegas and Wynn Las Vegas is Encore Esplanade, an indoor avenue lined with luxury retailers and high fashion clothiers. The strip features 27,000 square feet of shopping space with 11 boutiques. Stop at Encore Esplanade before heading to Le Reve theater or dinner at Botero and drinks at XS nightclub.

Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian

Doing anything in the Venetian is sort of magical so shopping at the Grand Canal Shoppes is a special treat. This indoor walkway with gondolas paddling along the canal brings shoppers to beautifully appointed facades with specialty stores featuring a variety of trinkets and clothing items, from expensive to the relatively inexpensive souvenir. The Grand Canal Shoppes are a great place to pick up a memento or just to take a stroll before a night on the town.

Las Vegas Outlet Center

The Las Vegas Outlet Center has a bit of everything, popular names you’re familiar with and prices that you’ll love. No matter what you’re looking for you can probably find it at the Las Vegas Outlet Center and at an incredible price. Spend the day shopping or swing by to get those essentials you forgot at home. It’s a wonderful shopping center that’s easily navigable and familiar to anyone who’s visited outlet centers in other cities.

Showcase Mall

Showcase Mall is a large shopping area right on the mall, next to MGM, with a few stores that are sure to net you a souvenir or two. M&M’s World is a favorite for many but GameWorks and The World of Coca-Cola are also quite popular. In addition you can spend time at the Grand Canyon Experience or visit the only regular movie theater complex on the entire strip, United Artists theaters. Showcase Mall is not high end or intimidating and a great break as you walk the strip from casino to casino.

Shoping in Palazzo Hotel Las Vegas

Shoppes at the Palazzo

The Shoppes at the Palazzo fill their 450,000 square feet with luxury retail stores like Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Ralph Lauren, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tory Burch and many others. The clothing and accessories at the Palazzo are high end with a focus on glamour and sophistication. This is probably the place you’ll want to shop if you hit it big in the casinos some night. It’s expensive but you are sure to find some items you simply must have.

Town Square

Town Square in Las Vegas is very beautiful center, the architecture is reminiscent of a European city center with a modern twist, the streets are designed to lead you from shop to shop in this quaint atmosphere. This 1.5 million square foot shopping facility is on the far south end of the strip so if you’re not staying on that end you’ll want to make the trip across the strip. There are more than 70 facades in the Town Square with bright and aged looking Mediterranean, Spanish and Colonial style buildings housing the unique mix of retail stores and restaurants. There is also an 18 screen movie theater on the premises and a children’s park and picnic area. This is a great place to wind down the day with a bit of shopping, some great dining, and a movie or drink or two at some of the local bars.

Boulevard Mall

Boulevard Mall in Las Vegas features 1.2 million square feet of retail space and more than 170 businesses. It claims to be Nevada’s Largest Mall and this claim is well deserved. If the high end and luxury stores on the strip are just a little out of your league then this mall will feel more comfortable. It’s got all the stores you’re used to and the layout is pretty easy to follow. But the Boulevard Mall is so big you may want to spend more than a day exploring.

Las Vegas Premium Outlets

Las Vegas Premium Outlets is located in downtown Las Vegas and features about 150 outlet stores in its outdoor setting. These stores are more familiar than the luxury shops on the strip but they’re also higher end retail stores. For the shopper who frequents nicer outlet malls then this Premium Outlets location will feel familiar and welcoming but it’s not a total clone of other Premium Outlets, there are some specialty stores you won’t find in most locations.

Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas

Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas are a great place to go if you want to escape the strip. Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas are located about 40 miles south of Las Vegas (despite the name) in Pimm Nevada. This mall is simple in layout with only two themed courts, the South Beach Court and the Urban Court. With more than 100 stores and restaurants their retailers range from Coach to Gap Outlet. In addition to the variety and the laid back atmosphere, Fashion Outlets feature multiple fountains, live performers and an arcade for the kids.

Arcade

The Arcade

The Arcade is not just a shopping center but it’s a historic building as its one of America’s first indoor shopping malls and Cleveland’s first skyscraper. Built in 1890 The Arcade is smack dab in the middle of downtown Cleveland and hard to miss. The architecture of this shopping center proves that they just don’t build them like they used to. Two 9 story towers connected by an atrium made of glass and metal are the highlights but the gargoyles atop attract quite a lot of attention on their own. But let’s get serious if you’re looking to shop then The Arcade is probably not where you want to go. There are few shops and not much selection at all. It’s a beautiful building though and worthy of a picture or two, but if you want to spend then keep moving.

Steelyard Commons

Steelyard Commons is not your typical shopping center but it’s perfect for families as there are a ton of stores and activities to keep everyone occupied. The stores are typical with well known names such as Target, Wal-Mart, Old Navy, Marshalls, Bath & Body Works, and more than a handful of fast food restaurants. Steelyard Commons is relatively new having opened to the public only in 2007 but there are already miles of hiking and biking trails surrounding the mall and leading to the Ohio Erie Canal towpath. A future playground and Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad stop is planned for the future so there will be even more reason to stop by Steelyard Commons.

Tower City Pre-Opening

Tower City Center

Tower City Center is one of those places downtown where you actually can spend the whole day shopping, eating and then stay overnight in a hotel within walking distance. It’s a great place for visitors as it has everything you could need or want in one compact location. There are dozens of stores you’re familiar with like Charlotte Russe, Foot Locker and Nine West in addition to more than 100 specialty stores where you can find things you never even imagined before. If you want to take a load off head over to the 11 screen theater for a quick afternoon flick or checkout an event at Time Warner Cable Amphitheater or Progressive Field or the Quicken Loans Arena, which all have convenient access through connected walkways. The whole center was really designed for the utmost in convenience for tourists to enjoy your getaway.

Larchmere Boulevard

Larchmere Boulevard takes out away from the mall and offers quaint boutiques, antiques, art stores and some incredible dining alternatives. This strip of independent stores is convenient and cute making it a little more pleasant than the hustle and bustle of the malls. The shops at Larchmere Boulevard are most likely ones you haven’t heard of before including Loganberry Books, Frog’s Legs, Inc., The Dancing Sheep American Crafts, Larchmere Oriental Rugs and many others. This is one of those shopping experiences you can’t find anywhere else so it’s a must stop for visitors.

shaker square mannequins

Shaker Square

Shaker Square is an octagonal shopping district constructed in the 1920’s. The center is designed to resemble a European center and even features Georgian and Tudor architecture which matches the surrounding homes. Not to be confused with a shopping mall, Shaker Square is said to be the oldest shopping district in Ohio and the second oldest in the nation, but that seems doubtful to me, although it does hold a place on the National Register of Historic Places. The Square claims to be an upscale shopping district but it’s actually better suited for window shopping and having a bite to eat at one of the sidewalk cafes. Not the best shopping spot in town but it is a historic landmark.

Galleria at Erieview

The Galleria at Erieview has a little bit of everything from services to retail stores a full service restaurant and a food court. One of the best parts of the Galleria is the art galleries there is A.R.T. Showcase, The Frame Center Gallery, HeARTworks, and The Herndon Gallery. There are also a number of specialty shops which means this shopping locale is the perfect stop if you’re looking for something you just can’t find anywhere else, that unique memento of your trip to Cleveland.

Aurora Farms Premium Outlets

If it’s a bargain you’re looking for the Aurora Farms Premium Outlets outside of Cleveland is the best place to stop. It’s actually a pretty quaint setting for an outlet mall, much prettier than most. Like all large outlet malls these days, you’re not necessarily going to get any great deals by shopping there but there is always a chance and the variety and selection is worth the trip. Aurora Farms houses more than 70 outlet stores with such well known stores as Ann Taylor, Coach, DKNY Jeans, Michael Kors, Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, Liz Claiborne and more. This is where you’re most apt to find a great deal.

Crocker Park

Crocker Park is located about 30 minutes outside of Cleveland and is set up to resemble a park-like complex packed with retail stores, restaurants, business offices, and apartments. Built during the housing boom this created city is like a lot of them in suburbs across the United States, its dripping with modern charm from the cobblestone walkways, fountains and town square to the convenient stores and high end groceries and corner coffee shops. Sure it’s contrived but there are a lot of good things about Crocker Park that make it worth a visit. The stores are plentiful and familiar such as Apple Computer, J. Jill, Hollister, Borders Books & Music, Smith & Hawken, Coach and loads more. The center is clean and attractive with numerous dining options and there are regular activities to keep residents and visitors amused.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Cleveland shopping, there are many more specialty stores, antique shops, and even shopping malls. It’s impossible to visit them all in one vacation so stick to a few and give them your undivided attention.

Shopping the Magnificent Mile

Magnificent Mile

The Magnificent Mile in Chicago is simply a shopper’s paradise. The region is about a mile long and stretches from Oak Street to the Chicago River on North Michigan Avenue and is literally filled with shopping options. Wear your most comfortable dress shoes because you’ll want to look amazing yet you’ll be putting in quite a few miles. The stores range from high end boutiques to The Gap filling in every imaginable space in between. Don’t limit your shopping to what is visible from the street as there are a ton of malls and stores tucked inside of the store fronts and hotels along the way. It’s almost impossible to shop all of the Magnificent Mile in one day so plan on only hitting the highlights or spending several days enjoying this shopper’s paradise.

Oak Street

Chicago’s Oak Street is just off the Magnificent Mile and is one of the toniest shopping spots in the Midwest. These upscale stores are not for the faint of heart or budget and require a strong constitution when it comes to looking at the price tags. But if you’re in the mood for some luxury accessories or top end designer clothing then Oak Street is the place to be. You’ll find clothing, shoes, jewelry, home furnishings, art, linens, music and much more to suit your shopping yen. If you’re visiting the area and this type of shopping is your target then you’ll probably want to stay at one of the high end hotels in the area and definitely checkout some of the city’s most acclaimed restaurants, which are all within walking distance. In fact, just to round out the luxury shopping experience, there are numerous high end spas in the Oak Street area to soothe those sore shopping muscles.

State Street

State Street shopping in Chicago is sometimes referred to as shopping the Loop, but most of the stores (the good ones anyway) are centered on State Street so you can focus your shopping in this area. State Street was Chicago’s original great shopping district with seven of the largest and most sought after department stores around. The luxury and competition were astounding back in the WWI era but things have changed and State Street’s opulence has given way to discount stores and fast food outlets. Which isn’t such a bad thing if you’re looking for some great deals.

Jewelers’ Row

Chicago’s Jewelers’ Row is worthy of a stop if you’re looking for some sparkly stones to take home. Most of the stores along this region service wholesalers but 5 S. Wabash Avenue lets regular people come in off the street and shop to their heart’s content. It’s a real experience as it’s sort of like a flea market for delightful gems.

River North

River North is the place to go if you’re looking for some interior design inspiration as it’s anchored by the Merchandise Mart, the world’s largest commercial building, which houses basically everything you could ever want or desire. But just outside the doors of the Merchandise Mart are more than a handful of high end home furnishing boutiques and antique stores. River North is also a haven for artists with its own little gallery district. There is an art season in this area and it officially begins on the first Friday after Labor Day. But if you’re headed to Chicago in late July or through the month of August you’ll also hit a pre-amble to the big art season.

	<a href="http://kathika.com/wp-content/uploads/armitage-avenue-puroticorico189-ll.jpg" rel="shadowbox[post-6103];player=img;"title="Armitage Avenue-puroticorico189" target="_blank"><a href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/"title="Attribution License" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> Photo credit: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/puroticorico/151465924/"title="name" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">puroticorico

Armitage Avenue

Armitage Avenue

Armitage Avenue is an older part of town with historic looking homes and, more recently, wealthy young professionals. To cater to these up and comers with lots of cash retailers have opened up high end boutiques that have an eclectic sensibility. You’ll find specialty stores with one of a kind clothing, interior décor, jewelry, and lots of odds and ends. Even though the area generally caters to those with money, there’s a neighborhood vibe throughout that makes the number of discount and consignment shops seem oddly at home. Like the high end Oak Street, Armitage Avenue features a number of salons or stores catering to those who know how to pamper. It’s a great place to wind up a day of shopping, find those one of a kind items you never even knew you needed and then submerge yourself in a self-indulgent spa treatment.

Bucktown/Wicker Park

The Bucktown/Wicker Park area has recently become the trendy place to shop in Chicago. It’s an unusual neighborhood where the old meets the new and art and bohemian spirit come to rest. There are one of a kind items that are a bit pricey and then there are must have items that come with reasonable price tags. The variety of stores is unmatched and this is the place to shop if you’re looking for a gift for someone who has everything and needs nothing. Bucktown/Wicker Park offers crafty and unique goods so if you’re looking for run of the mill and big discounts then this isn’t the area for you, but if you want something special and will spend a little more for it then plan a stop here.

In addition to these shopping centers in Chicago the city is full of other shops and stores which contain basically everything you could ever want. If you want to avoid the downtown area and want to shop in a more familiar surrounding there are hundreds of malls in the greater Chicagoland area, simply take your pick and enjoy the shopping extravaganza Chicago has to offer, but your best bet for incredible shopping is really the downtown, Magnificent Mile area, it’s like no other shopping experience around.

Downtown Seattle

Downtown Seattle is a bit of a shopper’s paradise with more than 1,800 retailers covering every aspect of shopping from large department stores, national and international retailers, area boutiques, high-end designer stores, discount and outlet shops, specialty stores and more. The downtown area is further broken down into about 13 shopping centers and malls and each one of those is completely filled with stores. If you can’t find it in Downtown Seattle you probably can’t find it anywhere.

First Hill

First Hill in Seattle is a popular neighborhood in Seattle that is full of unique shops and boutiques. This neighborhood is comprised of a lot of doctors and medical professionals so you’ll find higher end items on sale here and less tourists. So if you’re looking to get away and spend some time window shopping rather than buying this might be just the right area for your Seattle shopping excursion.

Fremont District

The Fremont District is best enjoyed on a Sunday when the Fremont Market is happening, then you get a sense of the city, the locals, the shopping and the local fare. Fremont has an interesting dichotomy of stores with vintage and retro and bargain stores vying for shoppers along with boutiques that cater to high-end designer labels.

International District

The International District in Seattle is probably best known for its Chinatown but there are a wide range of Asian cultures that are represented including Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Island. There are about eight city blocks dedicated to stores with an international flair. Go to the international district hungry and then stick around for several meals as you’ll get some of the best and freshest Asian food and sushi you’ve ever tasted. One of the most popular stops in the International District is Uwajimaya this huge store is mainly noted for its fresh produce but there are a lot of other items and products you can pick up at great prices.

Pike Place Market

Pike Place Market is a waterfront haven for tourists. A hustle and bustle sort of area, you’ll be shopping amid loads of excitement as fishermen are working at bringing in the day’s catch, vendors are selling their wares, tourists are taking in the sites and shoppers are picking up the latest find. Bring your camera for your trip to Pike Place Market and plan on having lunch in the area as you’ll find some of the best fast food around from a vendor’s cart.

Pioneer Square

Pioneer Square is the local historic region of the town with a lot of things to see and do, including some great shopping. This isn’t a big mall area but rather a place with lots of eclectic shops and imported products. The area has done a good job of retaining and restoring some of the historical buildings and landmarks in the area and there’s just a great feel in the air for shoppers looking to experience old Seattle.

Queen Anne

The Queen Anne area of Seattle has some of the best views of the city as it is perched atop the highest hill. Queen Anne is another residential district that does not draw a lot of tourist activity but is a great place to visit if you’re in town. The shops are very trendy and upscale, look mainly for jewelry stores and accessory shops that focus on feminine looks. With trendy and upscale neighbors the stores and restaurants have kept up with the times and offer the latest greatest and best of everything.

University District

The University District or U District of Seattle is what you’d expect from a university based community, there’s energy, life, and a vibrance that you won’t find in the other districts. Inside the U District are a number of commercial areas known by their street names which each carry a different sort of vibe. Wander around and explore the shops, there’s always something unusual in a college town and quite often they’re affordable.

That’s a pretty good breakdown of the shopping districts in Seattle, but if its specific stores and trendy boutiques you’re looking for, check out a few of the great shops in Seattle.

Archie McPhee

Archie McPhee is just a great fun place to hang out. You don’t even need to buy anything to really enjoy the experience of this store. Archie McPhee is a toys, gifts and novelties, heavy on the novelties, shop that either has something for everyone or nothing that anyone really needs.

East West Bookshop

If you’re a book junkie like I am then the East West Bookshop in Seattle is a much. This store is mainly about books but there are other gifts and toys and other unusual items to pick up as well. It’s a great way to relax and kick back during a rainy day.

Tenzing Momo

Tenzing Momo is an herbal apothecary in the Pike Place Market area of Seattle. Although you may not need any herbs you definitely will find the store fascinating and you’ll probably surprise yourself by getting something anyway. In addition to herbs they also sell teas, oils, incense and other little treasures.

Gargoyles Statuary

Gargoyles Statuary is an odd little store with a whimsical sense of the dark side. In addition to the obvious gargoyles the store also carries some original artwork, jewelry, incense, tarot cards, candles, oils and more statuary for your garden.

Whether you’re looking for a great shopping district that has everything you could possibly ever need or you’re searching for that one special store that has something you never knew you wanted, it’s all in Seattle. Step out of your comfort zone and try something new when you’re shopping in Seattle, you never know what you’re going to find.

Baltimore is somewhat of a shopper’s paradise with a huge variety of shopping destinations that satisfy the most die hard buyer and the most frugal window shopper at the same time. For those looking for something familiar and national retailers then a trip to Inner Harbor will satisfy your craving. Looking for something a bit unusual, both Mount Vernon and Fells Point are loaded with specialty stores and fine boutiques that are brimming with unique items. Antique shoppers have probably already heard about Antique Row on Howard Street, it’s well noted and worth a visit for those quality items that they just don’t make anymore.

Harbor Place

The premiere shoppers stop in Baltimore, Harborplace & The Gallery is where specialty boutiques and national chains come together. Sort of a haven for someone looking for a little bit of everything in one convenient location. The restaurants also cater to this attitude with dozens of fast food stops and more than a handful of nice restaurants as well.

This Inner Harbor landmark is situated in two waterfront pavilions and a four story glass atrium. Not satisfied to be just another shopping destination, Harborplace & The Gallery takes advantage of its waterfront location and brings others to the center by having regular entertainment, concerts, street performers, visiting ships and holiday fireworks.

Hampden

Not actually a shopping center, Hampden is a quaint part of the city that is known to some as the “real Baltimore”. Its older charming homes and neighborly atmosphere lend a unique flair to the stores that dot the streets. The community is well aware of the history that supports the local tourist industry and works diligently to keep this Hampden feeling alive and strong.

Another reason Hampden is such a popular place for shoppers is all of the other visitor’s treats the region has to offer. Within walking distance are a couple art museums, the Baltimore zoo, Notre Dame College and other attractions that can keep the rest of the family occupied for a long time. For a day of fun, look to Hampden to keep you occupied.

Lexington Market

The Lexington Market has been in operation remarkably since 1782, longer than any other in the region, offering shoppers the staple items necessary for regular home cooking and then some specialty foods that make dining a complete delight. It’s not your traditional shopping destination but it’s a really nice twist on a day spent shopping. If you’re traveling and don’t have the luxury of a kitchenette at your disposal, use the Lexington Market as one of the biggest buffets around and select some fresh off the vine foods for a family picnic.

Owings Mills Mall

For the mall rat group, Owings Mills Mall has everything you could ever want. It’s the complete and total mall experience that you’ve come to love and think of as home. Wear your shopping shoes because you can spend the entire day shopping at your favorite stores, with JCPenney and Macy’s serving as the anchor stores. No need to really stop shopping when it comes to meal times, there is a food court and some well-known sit down restaurants that let you give your weary feet a rest. Kids will enjoy Arcade Alley and stay out of your hair for several hours.

Towson Town Center

Towson Town Center is for mall shoppers who want to kick it up a notch. More stores and better choices is the name of the game at Towson. After having undergone an expansive renovation that spanned several years, Towson is now ready to unveil its new and improved retail heaven. High end, upscale stores line the hallways of this four story structure with Nordstrom and Macy’s serving as the anchors. In addition to some of the more exclusive chain retail outlets you’ll find a few unique retail options that further make this a destination shopping experience. Food choices are the standard boxes that live in mall areas but if you’d like to get it on the fly, the newly renovated food court is more than adequate.

Broadway Market and Fells Point

Another happening market place is the Broadway Market which is simply loaded with local flavor. Situated in Fells Point the Broadway Market should be scheduled as a lunch stop as you’re exploring the stores of Fells Point. Fells Point is packed with wonderfully eclectic stores that are perfect for gift purchases, or just a few little treats for yourself. You will find just about anything you could ever want in these quaint stores, everything that is except mass produced charmless pieces that can be found in the malls. Treasured souvenirs and one-of-a-kind keepsakes are definitely to be found at Fells Point and Broadway Market.

Mount Vernon

Is another section of Baltimore that’s steeped in history and charm and offers shoppers a paradise of stores that just can’t be found anywhere else. With a backdrop of 19th Century architecture and a gentle touch of parks littered throughout, the atmosphere couldn’t be more inviting and more appropriate for the boutiques and specialty stores lining the streets. In addition, the Mount Vernon area offers shoppers some added entertainment with world-class restaurants, many festivals and a hopping nightlife. It’s a city where you can easily spend an entire day occupying your time with numerous activities and never get bored.

Antique Row

And lest we forget, the famous Antique Row in Baltimore. For at least 100 years Antique Row has been drawing antique aficionados to this part of the city. Whether you know what you’re doing and you’re going to put that research to use scooping up the best deal, or the most perfect piece for your home, or if you’re hoping to find the next unknown Caravaggio, you’ll be thrilled with the sheer amount of products and the variety of stores in Antique Row. In fact, you could probably spend so much time shopping there that you become an antique yourself.

If you’re even a little bit of a shopper and headed to the Baltimore area, bring your credit cards because they’re sure to get a workout. This city is packed full of shopping destinations to keep you occupied. And if you’ve got other family members to worry about, most of the shopping destinations offer alternatives for non-shoppers or they’re close to cultural areas with tons of alternatives.

Toronto, the largest city in Canada and its economic and financial center, is a very international city. In fact, almost half of the city’s population was born outside of Canada. The diversity gives Toronto a very cosmopolitan flair. It was makes for some interesting shopping. Below are just a few of the best places to shop in Toronto.

Eaton Centre- Located on Yonge Street in the heart of downtown, Eaton Centre features three levels and more than 250 stores, a 12-screen movie theater, and an attached Marriott Hotel. The shopping complex, the city’s most popular tourist attraction, is also connected to Toronto’s subway system and downtown pedestrian network.

Bloor-Yorkville Neighborhood - Located north of downtown, near the University of Toronto, the Bloor-Yorkville neighborhood is known for its Victorian and brownstone houses, its art galleries, ethnic restaurants, and unique, one-of-a-kind stores.

Kensington Market – Located adjacent to the Bloor-Yorkville neighborhood, Kensington is one of Toronto’s oldest districts. Here, you’ll find an eclectic mixture of coffee houses, vintage clothing shops, organic grocers, and stores selling imported goods. What you won’t find is a Starbuck’s or a chain department store.

Hudson’s Bay Company – This is the company that helped settled most of Canada and parts of America in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It’s the oldest corporation in North America, founded in 1670, and it’s still going strong. HBC operates several retail chains, including “The Bay” stores, know for their Hudson’s Bay Blanket, an item they have sold for more than 200 years.
