New York New York Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip uses the theme to create an environment that oozes New York City in many ways. The first and most obvious way is the architecture which features several skyscrapers, the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. There is even a half scale replica of the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Whitney Museum of American Art, Ellis Island and Grand Central Terminal. Inside the hotel you’ll see other names familiar to New York City being used to define certain areas, such as Central Park, the main casino.

New York New York is pretty luxurious but comes with an almost bargain basement price point. The cheapest rooms are the Skyline rooms which start at only $60 a night and although the rooms are on the small side they’re still luxurious and large compared to hotels in real downtown New York City. The Park Avenue Deluxe rooms begin at $70 and are a bit larger. Broadway Deluxe rooms get a little bigger and cost a touch more. And then the jump in price happens as you move into the $125 plus a night Spa Suites, but it may be worth the additional fee to have your own in room spa. The Marquis Suite features the spa and an additional sitting room and is a reasonable $135 a night. The Players Suite starts at $160 a night and is perfect if you’re traveling with friends or family as the two queen beds make it a real bargain. The Ziggurat Suite starts at $180 a night and has a whopping 1,100 square feet of living space and is one of the largest rooms in the hotel. It’s beautifully decorated with a separate sitting area, a bar, a dining table for four and a spa bed, a bargain for that much luxury. And finally the Penthouse Suite which begins at the surprisingly affordable rate of $260 a night, similar to the Ziggurat Suite in its amenities but featuring just a little more of everything, the Ziggurat is actually a better deal.

NY, NY Las Vegas

One of the biggest attractions at New York New York is the structure itself as its pretty darn amazing looking. And another homage to the actual New York centers around the massive tragedy that struck on September 11, 2001; people spontaneously sent tributes to the hotel which are on displayed with a permanent memorial near the Lady Liberty Statue. Another noted attraction at New York New York is their roller coaster, which was once called the Manhattan Express. The roller coaster travels through the interior and exterior of the hotel and is a great way to see the hotel from an entirely different perspective.

New York New York, like most hotels on the Las Vegas Strip,  knows that the real money lies in the games so they’ve got a complete menu including blackjack, craps, roulette, mini baccarat, let it ride, big six, three card poker, WPT poker table, Texas hold ‘em, crazy 4 poker, slots and a race and sports book. No matter what level you’re at or whether you’re a high stakes player or a penny slots fan you can find it all at New York New York.

Shopping at New York New York

Shopping at New York New York is definitely not a reflection of shopping in New York City, a city that oozes high end designer fashions and cutting edge taste. New York New York is okay for shopping as the Soho Village area has some high end brands like Baby Phat, DKNY, Brighton, and Crislu and the Mezzanine Shopping zone has some signature souvenirs and magic shops to fulfill your gift quota. But if its serious shopping you want then this replica city falls flat.

Now all foodies know that New York City is one of the best places in the world for high end cuisine and New York New York does its best to bring some of that attitude to Las Vegas. Their fine dining options include Gallagher’s Steakhouse and Il Fornaio, which are good but a bit limited.  Their casual dining venues, Nine Fine Irishmen, ESPN Zone, Chin Chin Café, Conzalez Y Gonzalez, and America throb with excitement and are more in line with the vibe in New York City. And if you’re in the mood for a quick bite then Quick Bites food court will probably have something to tide you over.

Like the city itself, New York New York  is packed full of things to do, their headlining Zumanity by Cirque du Soleil is a sensual version of the noted circus act, with sex leading the way. Rock Vegas is a new nightclub with no holds barred excitement and intense VJs with unique vivid images set to music. The famous Coyote Ugly is housed in New York New York and a great time for those willing to get insulted and hop on the bar for a dance or two. Bar at Times Square is a rocking piano bar packed with wanna be singers and neighborhood atmosphere.

Circus Circus Las Vegas first popped up on the strip in 1968 and originally featured a traditional American style circus but in 1997 the hotel changed its theme to a Quebec Cirque du Soleil style circus and added a 35 story tower. The hotel is much more kid friendly than most on the strip and really inexpensive too. In fact, it’s the only RV park on the strip and they also have a campground available for those who want to combine gambling and decadence with camping.

Circus Circus bills itself as the best value on the strip and if you’re simply looking for cheap rooms then they’re probably right. Rooms include the basics, cable TV and pay channels, wireless internet and remarkably the hotel feels the need to advertise that each room has a hair dryer, an iron and an ironing board. The new tower is probably the best place to stay as the newly built structure has updated rooms with more space and amenities that the others. The Manor Rooms are standard hotel rooms, meant simply to provide you with a bed and shower between gambling and shows. Actually, the most luxurious part of Circus Circus is probably the RV Park with a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, laundry facilities, showers and restrooms, a convenience store, pet runs, and a video game arcade.

The Adventuredome is the main attraction at Circus Circus as this indoor theme park is packed with amusement rides for all ages. If you have children along then the free clown shows are a must as are the world-class circus acts, which are also free. The midway gives you a chance to practice your gaming skills in a different way without losing a cent.

There are three different gaming casinos within Circus Circus, the Main Casino, West Casino, and Skyrise Casino which total about 100,000 square feet of gaming. Try your hand at Circus Circus’s slots, table games, poker room and the race and sports book.

Circus Circus is a good place to get a souvenir as there are 40,000 square feet of shopping in the Promenade. Stroll down cobblestone streets with stores packed full of fashionable apparel, sports memorabilia, gifts and those must have souvenirs. Some of the shops include: Criss Angel MINDFREAK Official Store, Exclusively Circus Circus, Circus Spirits, Circus Gifts, Buffalo Old Time Photo Company, Market Express, Under $10, Houdini’s, $10 Boutique, Headliners, Trading Post and Designer Fragrances.

Circus Circus doesn’t offer the variety of fine dining options that many of the other hotels do but they do actually have one of the best steak houses around, THE Steak House has been voted the best steakhouse in Las Vegas for 20 years in a row and is actually quite affordable. In addition there is Mexitalia X-Press where you can get Mexican and Italian food at one place, fast. The Garden Grill features a bit of everything and is sure to satisfy every taste, The Circus Buffet is a buffet in the old Vegas style with loads of everything at a reasonable price. Casino Café is great for quick meals during breakfast or lunch. Pizzeria gives you the American favorite served fast and hot. The Westside Deli and Barista Bagels and More are great places to stop and grab a bite to eat while you rush off to more entertainment.

The world class circus at Circus Circus features African Acrobats International, Sasha, Passion to Balance, the Flying Poemas, Artem Khomanko, Duo Joys, Maria, Nikolai & Nina, Irina, and Danila Bim. The act is simply packed with excitement and entertainment to keep everyone in the family thrilled.

The Luxor in Las Vegas was one of the first fully themed hotels on the strip with its ancient Egyptian décor. Building for this pyramid shaped hotel began in 1991, the same year Treasure Island and the MGM Grand broke ground. In 2007 the hotel was renovated and many of the ancient Egyptian touches were removed.

The Luxor has 4,407 rooms which vary according to type and amenities. Pyramid Deluxe Rooms are in the pyramid and reach 350 feet into the air. More than 2,200 of these Deluxe Rooms over look the atrium, giving you an incredible view. The Tower Deluxe Rooms are housed in the twin towers and have incredible views of the city. The Pyramid Spa Suites come with your own private spa tub and a separate sitting room. The Tower Luxury Suites are more like apartments than hotel rooms at 780 square feet each. There are separate living and bedroom areas and some rooms feature floor to ceiling windows with incredible views. Tower Premier Suites are even bigger at over 1000 square feet each with separate living rooms, bedrooms and dining area. And the Player Deluxe Rooms are really just for serious gamblers who are more interested in the casino than their rooms.

The Luxor’s big property attraction is a huge beam of light that shoots out of the top of the pyramid. It is touted to be the strongest beam of light in the world and can be seen for miles around, it can even be spotted from airplanes in L.A. But some other attractions are more worthy of your time. Taking a cue from traveling museum exhibits the Luxor has included BODIES. . .The Exhibition and Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. Both of these exhibits are exceptional and worth checking out even if you’re not staying at the Luxor.

Like most casinos in Las Vegas, the Luxor offers slots, table games, a race and sports book, a poker room, and an exclusive high limit area. The Luxor offers WIN CARDS, which are an easy way to learn to play Blackjack, Craps, and Roulette. For $20 you receive $30 in chips and a tri-pack brochure with step by step instructions. The Luxor also features special events throughout the year for their Players Club members and big celebrations for big winners.

The Luxor is connected to Mandalay Place so you can easily shop in the stores featured by both casinos. Luxor’s stores feature a little bit of everything from high end designer clothing to tacky souvenirs. The Luxor has lost many of its old restaurants with the 2007 renovations and come up with some new winners. TENDER Steak & Seafood is a traditional steakhouse headed by award winning chef KC Fazel. Company Kitchen and Pub House creates tapas style dishes, small fare that is meant to be tasted and shared by everyone at the table, it’s a great place to try a huge variety of items. CatHouse is a restaurant entertainment experience, but leans toward the “adult” side of things. T&T is a rock and roll style Mexican restaurant that is spice and exciting. Pyramid Café is a more downscale dining option, its open 24/7 so it’s perfect for a light meal, breakfast or a snack. Backstage Deli is perfect for lunch, especially if you’re hungry for a New York deli sandwich. MORE is the buffet at Luxor and has a lot of everything. There is also a Food Court, a Burger Bar and In-Room Dining for guests.

Criss Angel is a large draw at the Luxor which isn’t surprising when you look at their other regular entertainment. Criss Angel Believe by Cirque du Soleil is an amazing and quite haunting show that will awe and amaze you in ways you couldn’t imagine. Fantasy claims to be ideal for couples but be aware there are some topless dancers. Carrot Top is the headlining comedian at the Luxor. And for musical lovers, Menopause The Musical brings comedy and music to the stage with parodies from the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

The current MGM Grand in Las Vegas is actually not the first MGM Grand, the original was opened in 1973 and was one of the largest hotels in the world at the time. In 1986 the original MGM Grand was sold to Bally Entertainment Corporation and became Bally’s Las Vegas. The new MGM Grand was built over the MGM Marina Hotel in 1991, the original Marina hotel building still exists on the western end of the hotel. Oddly enough the building first featured a front that was shaped like the MGM lion, only on a gigantic scale but many Chinese guests would not enter the building or would only come through the back as feng shui belief holds that entering the mouth of the lion is bad luck. Today the Lion is gone and replaced by a bronze statue, which is the largest bronze statue in the U.S. Another feature of the new building was a theme park and more activities geared toward children, this didn’t go over well and was gone within a decade.

MGM Grand Room

Staying at the MGM Grand

The rooms at the MGM Grand range from a simple room at under 500 square feet and less than $100 a night (one of the nicer rooms in town for this price) all the way up to Skylofts Suites in the penthouse with unadvertised prices, but a three night package stay runs about $8,000. The Skyloft Suites are actually run independently from the MGM and is considered one of the leading small hotels of the world, although it’s perched atop a gigantic hotel. Another option at the MGM Grand is The Signature. What once was the theme park has now been converted into condos. There are 576 condo units and their prices ranged from $450,000 to $1.5 million, no official word on what the housing crisis has done to the condos.

MGM Lion habitat

The MGM Grand’s signature attraction is its lion habitat in homage to the iconic Leo of MGM fame. The lions at MGM live in a custom 8.5 acre ranch located 12 miles from the hotel but commute to the casino where six of them are displayed daily in a special see through tunnel. If the lions aren’t your thing then the ultra pool, Wet Republic, may trip your trigger. Wet Republic is meant to replicate Florida’s South Beach in its ambiance and youthful vibe. There are two saltwater pools, eight individual pools and spas, VIP bungalows, party cabanas, daybeds and chaise lounges. There is also a 2,500 square foot lounge that hosts well-known DJs so you can dance, swim, drink and lay around when you’re not gambling.

And speaking of gambling, it’s why you came to Las Vegas in the first place and there is good reason to spend time gambling at the MGM Grand because at 171,500 square feet it is the largest casino in Clark County. The casino, much like every other one on the strip, features blackjack, craps, baccarat, roulette, pai gow tiles, slots, a huge variety of poker games, and a state of the art race and sports book that is housed in a 5,300 square foot arena.

MGM is a great shopping destination no matter what you’re looking for. Their Studio Walk shops are full of high end luxury items by top designers like Armani, Versace, Bernini and fine jeweler Cartier. For souvenirs and other odds and ends check out the Starlane Shops on the lower level of the main lobby which features Harley Davidson themed accessories, the Pearl Factor, Grand Candy, Vittorio and Star Magnet.  And if you’re looking for a deal there are outlets located throughout the hotel.

The MGM Grand has dining solutions for every occasion from fine dining to casual dining and even places to grab a quick snack. If you’re looking for a true gastronomic experience that delight your taste buds from beginning to end then try fine dining options Joel Robuchon, L’Atelier du Joel Robuchon, craftsteak, Fiamma Trattoria & Bar, Nobhill Tavern or Shibuya. For a more casual meal there is Emeril’s and The Grand Wok & Sushi Bar. And for quick snacks or full meals there is Studio Café, Rainforest Café, ‘wichcraft, Stage Deli, Studio Wok, Cabana Grill, Starbucks and the ubiquitous MGM Grand Buffet.

Mandalay Bay on the Las Vegas Strip is a luxury hotel owned by the MGM Mirage. Oddly enough the top four floors are used by the Four Seasons Hotel but the rest are open to Mandalay Bay guests. In addition, there is a 43 story tower connected to Mandalay Bay which contains the hotel at Mandalay Bay which is a super luxurious hotel and gets a personal thumbs up from me, two thumbs up in fact. From the outside Mandalay Bay is a gleaming gold which is caused by gold leaf on the windows.

Manadalay Bay hotel room

The rooms at Mandalay Bay have recently been remodeled and designed to be soft and inviting and encourage sleep. The 550 DR rooms actually refer to 550 square feet deluxe room. These rooms are very reasonably priced and aptly decorated. 600 SS rooms are 610 square foot spa suites, their design is a little more exciting and the spa is a nice touch and they’re still really reasonably priced. 750 GR suites are 765 square foot great room suites with a “unique playpen couch” and extended living space. 1050 SV, 1050 square foot Sky View Suite is the place to stay if you’re looking for knock out views of the city, it also has a separate living area and the price has now jumped up to $300. 1500 X2 and 1500 X3 are 1450 square feet with an additional bedroom. Vista Suite rooms give you 180 degree views of the strip and are really pretty decadent – the shocker is their small $350 price tag. A Media Suite jumps up to $500 a night and has a massive media center with a 65-inch plasma TV.

The suites at the hotel are priced in the same range but features the best in modern contemporary design, scads of flat screen televisions and there is more than enough room to move around.

Attractions at Mandalay Bay

Mandalay Bay has two of the best attractions in Las Vegas if you ask me and both are oddly enough water themed for this desert town. Mandalay Bay Beach is amazing, The Beach is open every day from 8am to 7pm and Moorea Beach Club is open on weekends. The 11 acre beach features a wave pool, a lazy river, three swimming pools, a jogging track and 2,700 tons of sand. There’s even a beachside casino if you can’t leave the gaming alone. The Moorea Beach Club is for the 21 and older crowd and basically just gets you away from families that believe Vegas is a good place for children.

The other great attraction at Mandalay Bay is the Shark Reef Aquarium. This is the only predator based aquarium and exhibit in North America, packed with sharks, sawfish, giant rays, endangered green sea turtles, piranha, moon jellies, and rare golden crocodiles. There are more than 2000 animals in 1.6 million gallons of seawater. The best part is guests can tune their flat screen TVs in to the shark reef channel and watch all day or listen to the calming sounds of the tank at night.

Like most casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, Mandalay Bay offers blackjack, craps, roulette, baccarat, let it ride, pai gow, poker, and slots. There are a whole slew of poker games you can get in on and there are tournaments you can enter if you think you have the chops. The sports book at Mandalay Bay claims to be the one and only place to watch and play year round. If you’re a big gambler expect special VIP treatment throughout your stay at Mandalay Bay.

Mandalay Bay doesn’t offer as much shopping as some of the other hotels and most of their stores are gimmicky souvenir stores so if you’re looking to find high end clothing or beautiful mementos of your trip then you may want to step outside of Mandalay Bay for your shopping excursions.

Dining at Mandalay Bay

The food at Mandalay Bay is what you’d expect from a luxury hotel with some of the best restaurants in town. Their signature restaurants include Mix, Fleur de Lys, Aureole, China Grill, Shanghai Lilly, Red Square, Trattoria Del Lupo, rumjungle, Rick Moonen’s RM Seafood, and STRIPSTEAK. For a more casual dining experience but one that still ranks pretty high you could try Giorgio Ristorante, Border Grill, House of Blues, Burger Bar, Red, White and Blue, Verandah, Noodle Shop, the café, and Mizuya. And if you’re just looking for a quick snack before heading out to the beach, Raffles Café, Bayside Buffet, Starbucks, and Gary Canter’s Delicatessen are great stops.

Mandalay Bay is sort of fight central in Las Vegas, it’s the place to go if you want to see the latest big ring brawl. But fighting isn’t the only thing on the menu at Mandalay Bay, the hotel hosts a ton of incredible music acts and the arena is gigantic so the shows are large, loud and thumping with excitement. In addition Disney’s The Lion King, the Broadway version, is the long time running theatrical presentation at Mandalay Bay so there is a bit of variety in their productions but it’s the live music acts and fights which really are the big draw. The Bellagio is probably one of the best known hotels on the Las Vegas strip because of its famed fountains. The fountains erupt into life every 30 minutes in the afternoon and 15 minutes in from 8pm to midnight and dance in a unique choreographed dance that melds water, lights and music. But beyond the Bellagio fountains are a number of really incredible attractions. One of the most stunning greets guests as they enter the lobby, the Chihuly hand-blown glass flowers hang overhead in what may be the most beautiful ceiling you’ve ever stood under. Deeper inside the hotel you’ll find the Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, you’ll be shocked by the variety and lushness of this indoor garden tucked in the middle of the desert. And in keeping with the finest of luxuries, the Gallery of Fine Art within the Bellagio features artwork by some of the most noted artists in the world.

Smack dab in the middle of the Las Vegas strip is the Mirage Hotel and Casino, an old timer by Vegas standards. Built in 1989 the hotel will be celebrating its 20^th anniversary throughout 2009. At its conception the Mirage was a new idea, a destination in itself with its famed volcano, lobby aquarium, and entertainment provided by Siegfried & Roy. Other hotels soon adopted the same philosophy and the face of the Las Vegas Strip changed.

The erupting volcano is one of the most visible attractions at the Mirage with free shows every night. There are a lot of options for shoppers at the Mirage with the Men’s Shop and Paradiso supplying the high end designer clothing, Terry Fator show for those fans who want a souvenir, the Sugar Factory for your sweet tooth, The Art of Music with autographed memorabilia and more than a handful of specialty shops to fill your every whim.

Las Vegas used to be all about $1 buffets but that has totally changed and the city now hosts some of the best restaurants in the world, the Mirage was on the cutting edge of that trend. Their fine dining options include Japonais, Stack, Fin, Kokomo’s, Onda Ristorante, and the Samba Brazilian Steakhouse. If you’re looking for a casual dining experience there is BLT Burger, Caribe Café, California Pizza Kitchen, Cravings, Carnegie Delicatessen, Paradise Café, Coconuts Ice Cream Shop, The Roasted Bean, the Dolphin Snack Bar and as always, you can order room service.

Baltimore, the “City of Neighborhoods”.  When most of us think of historic cities on the east coast of the United States, we probably think of Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., or even New York City, but the fact is Baltimore belongs on that list.  For most of its nation’s history, Baltimore has served as one of its oldest and most important ports.  The “Star Spangled Banner”, the United States national Anthem, refers to a battle during the War of 1812 in which the British attempted to take Baltimore’s harbor and failed.  Baltimore is a must for anyone on a historic tour of America’s east coast.  And, when one is looking for history, one should stay in a historic hotel.  Baltimore has several.

The Admiral Fell Inn

What’s its story: When the Lord Baltimore first opened its doors in 1929, it was considered the largest hotel in the state of Maryland.  The hotel is obviously named for Lord Baltimore himself, George Calvert, the founder of the original Maryland Colony.  The hotel’s stylish luxury is said to reflect the luxuriant tendencies of its namesake.

Why you should want to stay there:  The building, a 23 story brick and steel tower with 419 rooms, is decorated in a 1920’s Art Deco style.  The hotel is as glamorous now as it was when it first opened, right down to its two-story, beautiful lobby.  It has also been recently renovated giving visitors all the needs of a modern guest, while still maintaining its historic feel.

Peabody Court Baltimore

Where it’s at: 612 Cathedral St., Mont Vernon Historic District, Baltimore [map]

What’s its story:  Named for Baltimore resident and philanthropist, George Peabody, the Peabody Court Baltimore is located in Baltimore’s Mont Vernon Historic District.  This is one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods and also where its wealthiest residents used to live.  The name of the neighborhood was obviously derived from the name of George Washington’s home in the state of Virginia.

Why you should want to stay there:  Most probably know of the Washington Monument in Washington D.C..  But while this monument is famous, it was not the first to be dedicated to George Washington.  The original Washington Monument is located within walking distance of the Peabody Court Baltimore.  The hotel was built in 1928 as a luxury apartment building.  The hotel continues to remain true to its origins as it exhibits a Renaissance Revival façade and interior decor indicative of the “Roaring 20’s”.  The bathrooms are all-marble and the lobby sports a six foot Baccarat crystal chandelier.  And, for the book-nuts out there, the hotel is also the home of George Peabody’s personal library.  The hotel is said to look most beautiful at night when its exterior lighting highlights its dramatic pillars.

Open for dinner nightly, except for Mondays, this restaurant specializes in a mixture of seafood and meat dishes, all making use of the freshest ingredients. Food lovers will enjoy the restaurant’s four-course chef tasting menu, which changes nightly.

SW Steakhouse – The Wynn’s steakhouse is located along the banks of the resort’s scenic lake. It serves up USDA Prime Black Angus steaks and quality seafood, accompanied by traditional salads and side dishes. SW Steakhouse is open daily for dinner.

Daniel Boulud Brasserie – Daniel Boulud Brasserie is a traditional French bistro, serving classic French dishes in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Menu favorites include ‘’steak frites” (a New York strip steak with thinly-cut fries), duck confit, and baked halibut. Open for dinner nightly, the Brasserie also offers a choice of ”prix fixe” menus – a good value compared to the a la carte menu.

Okada – A marriage of traditional Japanese technique with abundant American produce, Okada offers surprising and innovative cuisine with an Asian flair. The casually-elegant restaurant is open nightly for dinner, and highlights include a caviar tasting, traditional Japanese tempura, and ”robatayaki” (skewers of marinated meat, vegetables, or seafood grilled over Japanese charcoal).

Bellagio is a AAA Five-Diamond rated luxury hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, USA.

The Bellagio Hotel, named for a small village in Italy’s lake district, is one of Las Vegas’ finest and most luxurious hotels. Built in 1998, the Bellagio is known for its elegant decor and fixtures, its fine dining, and its large lake in front of the hotel with its choreographed fountains, one of the many free attractions in Las Vegas.

The Bellagio has nearly 4000 guest rooms, suites, and villas. All rooms at this AAA five-diamond resort include a lavishly-stocked mini-bar, an iron and ironing board, a two-line telephone with a computer dataport and high-speed Internet access, plush robes, and a marble soaking tub as well as a shower.

Suites at the hotel also feature a wet bar with a refrigerator and an ice maker, a separate dining room and living room, his and hers bathrooms – one with a Jacuzzi tub, and an in-room fax machine.

In addition, the hotel offers babysitting, laundry and dry cleaning services, a variety of business services, and concierge service.

The Fountains of Bellagio attraction consists of an elaborate and massive musical fountain display set to light and music. The fountain show takes place every 30 minutes in the afternoons and early evenings, and every 15 minutes from 8 PM to midnight.

What to Do at the Bellagio Hotel
Guests need never be bored at the Bellagio. Among the hotel’s many facilities are a spectacular Mediterranean-themed, heated pool with private cabannas and hand-carved Italianate stone fountains; the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Garden, an amazing array of desert flora and fauna; and the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, which features changing exhibits, such as the recent Ansel Adams retrospective.

The hotel also has two popular shopping arcades, filled with luxury shops and signature boutiques–the Via Fiore and the Via Bellagio, a fitness room and sauna, a full spa, extensive meeting space, a wedding chapel, and the “O” theater, home to the one-of-a-kind “Cirque de Soleil” production.

The Casino
The casino at the Bellagio Hotel includes an array of slot machines as well as table games, including blackjack, roulette, craps, Caribbean Stud, Let it Ride, Stud Poker, Pai Gow Tiles, Pai Gow Poker, Big Six, Three-Card Poker, and baccarat.

The hotel’s race and sports book includes state-of-the-art big-screen TVs, where you can watch all of the action. The hotel features two poker rooms, where you’ll find over 40 tables including some with high-limit games. The hotel also sponsors frequent Texas Hold ‘Em tournaments and is a regular stop on the World Poker Tour.

Via Bellagio at the Bellagio Las Vegas is one of the most elite shopping streets in the city. Here, high-end retailers, such as Hermes, Tiffany and Co., Chanel, Dior, Yves St. Laurent, and Giorgio Armani compete for shoppers’ attention.

Near the reception area, the Via Fiore houses a collection of housewares, mid-priced clothing stores, a newstand, and a Bellagio logo shop.

The Bellagio Hotel’s Restaurants
Dining at the Bellagio is as varied as its clientele. Among the hotel’s dining options are:

• Le Cirque – Sister to the famed New York City epicurion palace, Le Cirque, which sits beside the Bellagio’s lake and dancing fountains, offers elegant French cuisine with a rustic touch. Le Cirque is a AAA five-diamond restaurant.
• Circo – Younger and more casual than Le Cirque, Circo features rustic Tuscan cuisine and irresistible desserts from an open kitchen within sight of the dancing Bellagio fountains.
• Prime Steakhouse – Called by Las Vegas Magazine the “Most Romantic Steakhouse on Earth”, Prime Steakhouse at Bellagio evokes 1930s style with leather banquettes and Baccarat chandeliers. The food is expertly done, classic meat and potatoes, accompanied by one of the city’s best wine lists.
• Picasso – Arguably, Las Vegas’ finest restaurant, Picasso, at the top of Bellagio, serves French-Mediterranean cuisine in a warm and inviting dining room, lined with the hotel’s priceless collection of original Picasso canvases and ceramics. Picasso also holds the AAA five-diamond designation.
• Michael Mina – Sister to the elegant restaurant of the same name in San Francisco’s St. Francis Hotel, combines Californian and Mediterranean cuisine in a relaxed, yet elegant atmosphere.

Of course, there’s always the Pool Cafe, the Bellagio Buffet, or the Cafe Bellagio for more informal meals.

The hotel also contains a Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. The displays are changed out five times a year and reflect the current season (winter, Chinese New Year, spring, summer, and fall).

Nightlife
The Bellagio offers a wide range of night spots. Among these are the romantic Fontana Bar and Lounge, overlooking the lake and the dancing fountains; the elegant Petrossian Bar, which specializes in caviar, vodka, and piano music; and the vibrant dance club, The Bank, with its VIP boothes and glass-enclosed dance floor and where the action goes on until 4am.

Liverpool, the city that raised John, Paul, George, and Ringo, has just opened a new four-star hotel, designed in the Beatles’ honor. The 110-room Hard Days Night Hotel opened on February 1 in renovated 19th century mercantile building, located in the city’s Cavern Quarter. The hotel is named after the group’s second movie, released in 1964.

The Rooms
The rooms at the Hard Days Night Hotel all contain artifacts and memorabilia from the Beatles career and life in Liverpool. Rooms range from modest standard rooms to the luxurious, $1300/night John Lennon penthouse suite, complete with a white baby grand piano. All rooms include flatscreen tvs and wireless Internet access, among other amenities.

Facilities
Facilities at the Hard Days Night Hotel include two restaurants–an upscale, organic restaurant and a casual Mediterranean bistro, a bar, and an art gallery.

Few places in the world are as dramatic and scenic as Northern California’s Big Sur, located along the Pacific Coast just south of Monterey. The sparsely-populated area boasts spectacular views as the Santa Lucia Mountain rise abruptly from the ocean. It’s a perfect spot for a romantic getaway or honeymoon.

Hidden among the hills are a few casual, yet luxurious hotels. Chief among these is the Post Ranch Inn. Orlando may be located in the middle of the state, but you don’t have to give up on the idea of a beach vacation in order to see Disney World. Cocoa Beach, located along Florida’s east central coast is just an easy hour’s drive away. The Space Coast, as that area is called, is a world away, however, from the hustle and bustle of central Florida.

What to See in and around Cocoa Beach
Cocoa Beach is known for its long stretches of hard, white sand and its excellent sports fishing. In addition, the area boasts several attractions, such as:

• Kennedy Space Center – Home to the Space Shuttle and the Kennedy Center Visitors Complex, which houses an IMAX Theater, a variety of space artifacts, and a variety of rockets and space hardware. If you’re lucky enough to be in Florida at the right time, you can stand on the beach in Cocoa Beach and watch a shuttle launch.
• Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge – Located just north of Cocoa Beach, this 100,000 acre preserve is home to over 1000 species of plant life, 300 different kinds of birds, and 31 species of mammals. Admission is free. Note: the refuge is closed on the days preceding a shuttle launch.

If you traveled to Vegas in the last several years, then surely you’ve seen the captivating swash buckling pirate show in front of the Treasure Island Hotel. In keeping with the “sin city” theme, the Treasure Island Hotel has upped the ante and incorporated some lusty ladies known as the Sirens into the show. Somehow the pirates seem to be pillaged of their shirts, but I don’t hear any ladies in the audience complaining.

In addition to the Sirens show, the Treasure Island has a treasure trove of top shelf entertainment options. Cirque du Soleil has unveiled the Mystere show, which features a 72-member cast of dancers, singers, musicians, and acrobats that are guaranteed to enthrall the audience. Tickets range in price from $60-$95, however significantly discounted prices apply to active military members.

TI also has one of the hottest nightclubs on the Strip, Tangerine, which is open until 4 am from Thursday to Sunday. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a 20s-era speakeasy and features live music nightly along with burlesque performances.
