And out of the Dunes arose the Bellagio. In 1993 the Dunes hotel in the heart of the Las Vegas strip was brought to the ground so the magnificent Steve Wynn hotel and casino, Bellagio, could rise and flood the desert with fountains designed to perform a water ballet every fifteen minutes.
Although the famous fountains are free and draw everyone to the Bellagio, no trip is complete without a tour through the inside of this breathtaking hotel. The Conservatory and Botanical gardens are in sharp contrast to the arid surroundings, offering guests a seasonal display of exotic plants and flowers that engulf you in their warmth and fragrance. In keeping with the organic theme the Dale Chihuly ceiling bursts with blooms blown of glass by the master artist himself. Over 2000 flowers grace the 2000 square foot ceiling of the lobby.
Deeper inside the hotel you can find the entire circle of life as performed by world famous Cirque du Soleil in O. But the artistic vision doesn’t end there. Art abounds in The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, which heralds pieces from masters including Picasso, Monet, Degas and others as their exhibits tour the world.
To take a piece of Bellagio (or Chanel, Dior, Fendi, Armani, Hermes, or Tiffany) home, Via Bellagio is the place to go. Walkways are lined with high end stores and boutiques catering to the finest tastes in everyone. More shopping is available for the true collector at the Via Fiore Shops, the hotel’s lobby shops, and the Pool Promenade Shops.
Shopping is hard work and can lead to back aches and exhausted feet and the Bellagio is ready to soothe what ails you. The Mediterranean pools are a great form of do-it-yourself therapy, slip into pristine pools embraced by fragrant citrus and flower gardens. Or let someone else do the work for you and visit the spa for a massage, facial or one of the oft-changing worldly beauty treatments.
And no trip to Las Vegas is complete without a trip to the casino. Bellagio’s casino is focused on the game. Draped in Mediterranean class, the floor features reeled slot machines, video poker, blackjack, craps, baccarat, roulette and, of course, poker. In fact, the poker is so hot at the Bellagio that the World Poker Tournament finals are held there. To start your trip out as a winner, stop by the Players Club Desk to enroll in the player loyalty program.
No trip to Vegas is complete without a stop in the Bellagio, it sounds cliché but It’s absolutely true as the fountains, at least, are a staple attraction that draw visitors from around the world and keeps them talking for years to come.
